Hi everyone! FH and I just got back from Men's Warehouse, holy COW 235 bucks to only rent a tux in a navy blue color I didn't really like. They had 3 suits, 3 tuxes to choose from. Grey, black, or navy for tuxes, grey, black or tan for suits. They had ZERO selection and wouldn't let us try anything...

They had ZERO selection and wouldn't let us try anything on. Is that normal..?

Where is everyone renting from? I figured it'd be 150 bucks tops, maybe I'm crazy lol. I've checked the vendors tab, anyone familiar with Generation Tux? We have quite some time before we need to nail down a tux/suit. The people at Men's Warehouse asked why we wanted suits when I'm in a fancy dress, why not do tuxes. TBH I can't tell a difference haha but maybe that's just me since I don't know much about men's formal wear. We're looking for something like the picture, but with a blush colored lapel. Should be pretty easy to find, but not for 235 bucks! That's with a 40 dollar discount......

The 235 was BEFORE taxes! Yikes. It would have been 275 but I have a 40 dollar coupon. Not including shoes, it only includes pants, shirts, vest, socks, the tux jacket, the pocket square and the tie. Which is a lot considering I'm trying to get the girls dresses under 100. FH says the guys don't mind buying or renting, but I'm all about saving a buck. I was hoping to be under 150, but now maybe I should aim under 200.

We are doing theblacktux also. Dark navy. I think ours is like $115 maybe $130ish after taxes. Although that was just shirt pants jacket and vest. We decided we would buy the guys their ties and they can wear whatever fancy black shoes they already had. The only thing is there is no free groom rental there.

    What time is your wedding?

Suits are fine with long dresses. Your experience with Mens Wearhouse is just another reason to avoid them altogether. Nothing to try on and they don't even know what a pocket square is called?

The Black Tux would be perfect for your guys. They can get them delivered to their homes so they have plenty of time to try on and adjust anything. Their service is excellent. You can get a sample sent before you order.

Consider buying suits. We got ours from Macy's for $105. They were extremely helpful in tracking down sizes we needed, and the guys got them tailored at a local place. It was a lot less expensive and now they have nice gray suits they can wear again!

Macys has several suits available in different blues. You can choose the jacket and pants separately.

Not normal to not let you try on but the price is pretty normal. Our GM's found tuxes for $140 at MW. Definitely use the coupons!

Ours cost $145 with the shoes. Look for a smaller local place.

Maybe try a local tux store, not a chain?

Men's warehouse kind of sucks and someone we know who worked there said they don't even clean the tuxes/suits sometimes. Our tuxes are $200 and I thought that was a lot but FH was picky with colors (dark gray with black stripe on lapel) and we could have gotten plain black ones for $100, which I thought was a more standard price

I have to say, I'm always amused when people are outraged by a $235 rental of a men's suit, but perfectly fine with spending over $1,000 for a dress they will never wear again. But I agree with the others, why not buy, so he'll have a suit to wear in the future?

I personally had an awful experience at Mens Warehouse what a joke I cut them off like a bad habit! We went to Kohls and bought all of our suits for about 1/3 the cost !! Will tell everyone I know that there promotion is a joke! Their suits aren't that great and very overpriced for a rental !!!

@2d Bride- I think it has to do with showing some consideration to the groomsmen' budgets.

We bought my hubby a nice suit (well nice to us... we aren't fancy lol) for about $175 or so. Included pants, vest, jacket. They had a sale going on. The jacket was the most expensive piece

We opted to buy all of our suits. we got them on amazon & they are extremely nice quality. the seller we purchased all 6 from was very helpful with sizing and customizing as we needed. we spent about $110 on each suit, and my FH alterations was only about $60 (the others only need hemming on the pants, as they come unhemmed) so i think we made out well. i can give you the sellers name if you are interested. here's a picture of my brother (one of the groomsman) wearing the suit.

We purchased separates for FH. Our wedding is more casual, so we decided to go with just a waistcoat, no suit jacket. For a custom waistcoat, pants, and a shirt from LL Bean (we're Mainers) we spent $550. It would have been cheaper to rent something, but our parents purchased all our clothes as a gift.
