Hey all,

So I'm pretty fair/pale and also suffer from acne (mostly on my face) I've tried everything to rid my acne. A friend of mine who is also a cosmetologist recommended I try sunbed tanning as it should help clear my acne and scars as well as help my skin to glow slightly before my wedding so I don't look so pale I got a membership and want to start with using a Bronzer also. My FH is really dark, he works outside so he tans easily, whereas I don't tan so easy.

My wedding is almost 2 months away. July 20, 2019. Any advice on how to maximize my tanning experience for both acne clearing/tanning?

Thanks everyone. And I don't plan on tanning long term and each session will be short like 3-5 minutes at a time. I may still do the spray tan option before my wedding, as long as it doesn't make me look orange like some spray tans do.

😀❤️ Thank you for the feedback, I plan on gradually increasing my time in the bed and won't do it long term.

Date twins! Sunbed tanning won't affect scars (in my experience). I have pretty bad acne but I tan easily, so bed tanning never burns me. I rarely do it, maybe 3-5 times once a year for events. It hasn't done anything to my acne scarring. The only thing that has helped that is microneedling & chemical peels. I'd try facials or chemical peels this month or early next to help with acne. I'd also develop a great at home routine for your skin health. Occasionally I'll see good results for acne with tanning but I honestly think it's because my skin dries out & gets less oily, so I have less breakouts. But then I just get congestion in my pores from it being so dry.

PLEASE don't go to a tanning bed. I work at a cancer center in cancer research and I can tell you SO many stories of people getting skin cancers even from just going a "few times". It is just not safe. I would look into a spray tan or getting some natural looking lotions that can give you a bronzy look.

I go to to tanning bed occasionally, and I think my package has 6 visits left or so. I'm not getting married until October, so I won't be using those until the month and a half leading up to wedding. I definitely love being tan, though I'm not crazy tan right now because I haven't gotten the chance to tan. Use a tanning bronzer for the darker tans. I've used the Snooki one, it works well! Make sure to drink enough water because I've actually passed out one time after using a stand-up tanning bed and I overheated. Not fun.

I would go maybe every 4 days or so if you have lighter skin.

As a fellow acne-sufferer, I would strongly suggest you check out Curology. I had severe acne and rosacea and it SAVED my skin, although it doesn't help much with scarring. Seriously worth the $20 every month.

I failed Accutane twice. It can cause more harm than good, as well. I still have acne.

Accutane destroys your subbascous glands. If you're lucky, it'll help, if not... you just spent $1k a month for (in my case) a year (2 rounds) with no results.

I say cleanse your face, stay away from Cosmetics as much as possible (they clog pores), change your sheets and pillowcases often. Try to stay as stress free as possible.
My issue is hormonal (very long story dealing with deliberate exposure to equine hormones by my parents as a teen...). Trust me when I say it sucks being in your 30s, engaged, with the acne of a teenager.
