Sunday Brunch Wedding - Venues? Virginia

Kimberly, on August 24, 2014 at 1:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I really like the idea of a Sunday brunch wedding. Pretty much 75% of our guests would be flying in from other states and a Sunday wedding would also allow a greater opportunity for them to not have to miss work to attend. Also, brunch food just sounds amazing. Mmmmmm mimosas! Has anyone had, or is going to have, a brunch wedding? Morning ceremony and early afternoon brunch reception? Are there many vendors that even do such events? If anyone has any tips, especially for the Northern Virginia area/Shenandoah Valley area, it would be much appreciated!

We're having a Sunday brunch wedding. Our venue was thrilled to host our event and we got some really good discounts. Our ceremony is 10am, cocktails (light- only providing mimosas, bellini, and beer) 1030-12, then 12-4 is our reception. We're having New Orleans style Sunday brunch and, if you'd like, I can share my menu with you.

I'm not sure if there are many other brunch brides here, but I'l help you any way I can.

I'm not a brunch bride, but an afternoon one. Ceremony is at 2:30, reception right after around 3-3:30, ending early at 5-6. I love the idea of a brunch reception though! You should be able to either get discounts or have vendors work with you more since it earlier in the day. Our photographer is giving us a discount to fit down into our budget range because it's in the off season and during the day.

Would you be willing to do something in DC? I live in virgina but DC has the most fabulous brunch deals. Also if you have a lot of out of town guests it would be easier for them to get to dc than Shenandoah. My favorite is local 16. It's like $20 for a meal and all you can drink mimosas, bellinis and bloody Mary's. The food is pretty decent too.

    A waffle bar sounds amazing!

Samantha, if it comes down to budget, we might look for something like that in DC, but we really want to have a fall wedding near the mountains if at all possible. Or at the very least, somewhere we can really enjoy that beautiful fall scenery. Thanks for the tip though! I'll definitely keep that in mind.

    DC does the best brunch.

I went to a place called The Peacock Pantry in Richmond once. It was pretty fabulous. Little pricey though.

Shenandoah area and Northern VA are very different locales, so if you could be a bit more specific that might be helpful...

I got married at Bull Run Golf Club (Haymarket) with the mountains in the background. We had an evening wedding, and I don't know if they do brunch or not, but they did a lovely job, if they do.

We live in Fairfax. We really want to be close to mountains for our scenery for the wedding, but if that doesnt work out, or there is nothing within a decent price range for us, then anywhere around northern Virginia that wouldnt be a huge hike from Fairfax would be something we'd consider.

I just looked up Bull Run Golf Club. The photos look very nice!

You might try some wineries, too, those that might make mimosas tough (they sometimes only allow their wine to be served). But a lot of them have nice mountain views. Also out toward Leesburg/Purcellville you might find some good views as well. I went to a wedding at Bluemont Vineyard that was very pretty.

Try looking up Rixey Manor. They are a new venue in Northern VA, about an hour southwest of Fairfax. Couldn't tell you anything about pricing or any other details though. http://www.rixeymanor.com https://www.weddingwire.com/biz/rixey-manor-rixeyville/ce916f124034d2e2.html

There aren't any mountains but we are getting married at Rock Hill Plantation House in Stafford and having a late morning ceremony/early afternoon reception. The couple that run the place are awesome!

I realize this post is from a couple of years ago, but I thought, "What the heck! Might as well give it a shot."

Could I ask the name of your venue and/or caterer?
