Sunday daytime wedding timeline too short?

Lynn G, on April 9, 2022 at 3:11 AM Posted in Planning 7 3
Hi guys, I am planing my wedding this summer and find a perfect location for both ceremony and reception. The online problem is the timeline, usually the daytime wedding is from 10am to 3pm, but the date I preferred will have a wedding starting at 3:30pm, so the coordinator told me she can only offer me 8:30am to 1:30pm. We plan to do a intimate wedding with around 30 people, and my plan of the timeline is like this: 9am-10am first look and some photo shoots, 10:15am-10:45am ceremony and guest photo time, 10:45am - 11:30am cocktail hour with appetizers, 11:30am - 1:30pm plated meal + cake cutting. We don’t plan to do any dancing or games during the wedding since it’s daytime and we will have bridal/groom party the night before the wedding. My only concern is whether 2 hours is too rush for plated meal and cake cutting. The coordinator told me the plated meal will be served within 1 hour and it should be enough, but I’m concerned whether the guests will feel too rush to finish eating and chatting in 2 hours since we must leave by 1:30pm. Any advice? Thanks a lot!

I think the timing would be fine.

The timing should be fine. You only really have 30 minutes of wiggle room left. So if it truly bothers you, push everything up 30 minutes and you'll have 2.5 hours of meal time!

2 hours is standard for dinner. Cut the cake at the beginning so they have time to cut and serve it. Definitely take advantage of the 30 minutes during the 8am block.
