Super cheap wedding dresses!

Cyndi K, on July 26, 2012 at 5:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

Did you know you can shop Good Will online? I didn't! It's still second hand stuff and it's in the form of an auction but it's through Good Will. Just for the heck of it I searched for wedding dresses and after a few vintage dresses there were actually some really nice ones. The most expensive was $24.99. You still have to pay shipping. Thought I'd share for the ladies looking for a deal. www.shopgoodwill.com

You're right that although there are a lot of dated ones, there are a few really pretty ones, for dirt cheap.

Don't want to down on anyone's parade, but be cautioned about dresses from thrift stores such as Goodwill Salvation Army, etc.

Nothing against the frugal bride, but stores that take donated items often have a much higher chance of spreading bedbugs. Wedding dresses in particular generally is in these stores for long periods of time.

I'm sure nobody here wants to spend their honey moon cash or cash received as gifts to de-bug their homes and buy all new furniture.

Just a word of advice. Be careful, check it out thoroughly, especially in the seams, and have it steamed/dry cleaned IMMEDIATELY!

Oh S2BMrs.Smith I'm loving that too! I know I was really shocked at the dresses since some are DB and whatnot. And normally when I look at thrift stores the dresses are always small sizes but they actually have some that are 20-26.

@Regina P.: I've heard of that happening with bedding, but never with clothing. Can you point me to any news stories suggesting it has happened with clothing? I know I've gotten many of my clothes from the Salvation Army for years with no issues.

Oh goodness me! Those little critters are vicious and mate like rabbits!

    Here's one article

here's one about even renting (sheesh) I wanna cringe at the thought of rented tuxes now.

Just saying, with the epidemic of these little buggers as it is. being careful is a good thing.

Nothing against you, really. I love thrift shopping too. But I've become really careful when purchasing ANYTHING now.

If you an heat the garment up to I think 140 degrees it will kill the bed bugs. I have an infrared sauna and if I stay in a hotel my luggage goes into the sauna before it comes into the house.
