We decided to do this to save money. Plus then we can bring home whatever doesn't get used. We found this site out of like Indiana (I think) that had their liquor for stupid cheap. Apparently Ohio (where I live) has really high state minimums on liquor, and Indiana's minimums are really low (like $10-30 less per handle of alcohol!!) We also have a company here in Cleveland that we can buy the wine/beer from and they will let us return anything that isn't opened.

So anyways, we purchased our liquor and it was all shipped to us this week (see photo lol). My question is for anyone that has supplied their own alcohol (or is planning on it). How much did you buy?? everyone we talked to and all the online sites said for our number of guests (175-185), we should buy 10-12 liters of liquor. That just didn't seem like enough to us...we bought 60 liters lol and I am still slightly concerned we won't have enough (our friends can drink). Anyone else going through this??

@nicola - I would think if you are supplying alcohol (even at your own home) to a large group, you would want extra insurance.

We are supplying our own. We haven't really shopped around for prices yet, but there is a liquor store that has several locations in our area that will deliver, ice down and pick-up any unopened bottles and we will be refunded for anything that was unopened.

My venue told me what to order for beer and wine- we have to get it through them. She told me way less than you are all ordering. We budgeted for two kegs and 20 bottles of wine for 250 people. I am assuming this will not be enough? Crap. How much beer and wine did your guests actually drink?

Thanks for this! We are going to meet with a bartender and hopefully she'll give us guidance on how much to buy because I'm also lost! I wanted to do just beer and wine but most of my guests don't drink wine so since we're having Mexican food I think sangria would be a good option instead.

@AK We've been told to factor at least 5 drinks per person. Of course you will have people who drink less than that or not at all, but you will have people who will also drink more than that.

I am less concerned about having "enough" as a total and more worried about running out of specific types of liquor. Like, I have no clue what people will drink?!

@Raelyn have you considered having a few signature drinks so that you can guide your guests to order more of those? You can have them with different liquor.

I have no idea how you can be sure of what people will drink and having enough of specific types of liquor. I have heard that despite weddings having "full bar" people tend to order more wine and beer at weddings because they can drink more.

Julia, are you providing your own alcohol too? I live in Ga and was planning to just buy from Sams Club. I haven't really compared prices yet but they seemed decent.

ETA: Just compared. Sams is comparable to the site mentioned here.
