Completely shocked! We were on a vacation in St Louis visiting the Arch on our last day (New Years Eve) We got into the tiny little pod that takes you all the way to the top and I was freaking out because I hated the way the thing swayed. He said my name and I looked over and he was pulling the ring out of his pocket. I had no idea it was coming. It was absolutely perfect.

I knew that we would be getting engaged but the actually proposal was a shock to me.

At the time, we had been together for almost 9 years. My FH decided to join the Air Force Reserves at 26, and he left in May 2016 for basic training. We discussed how we would wait for engagement until he was home. However, he surprised me by planning the whole engagement through letters home to his mom and sister. We flew down in July 2016 to visit and watch him graduate. He proposed following his graduation ceremony, where all the guys made a circle around us! It was amazing and a complete shock!

Totally shocked. We had talked about getting married a lot but then he went into the military again. I thought he was still there but he surprised me by coming home on my birthday and then proposed!!

My FH is in the navy and found out he was being deployed in April 2017. So when he found out in Feb. 2017 I said that he needed to propose prior if he expected me to wait around, so I knew it was coming, I just didn't know when. He proposed while we we're watching tv on a Saturday night. I thought he would propose the week after since we were going to a brunch.

LOL Sorry Jayla, just had to call out that teensy bit of bias Here is what my husband posted on Facebook about our proposal:

"A year ago today, Christmas Eve 2016, I was in bed at 3am and "Red Queen" proposed to a very groggy "Mad Hatter". I said yes, but it lacked the fun story that it could have been so Susie took a mulligan without telling me.

We had a trip planned for May and all I knew was that she had a series of surprises planned for me. The guessing game we played was about a month long and I was still clueless when we arrived at our ship.

First surprise was a mimosa breakfast on our balcony that was lovely. It was lovely sitting on the balcony and having a wonderful breakfast in the sunshine.
Second surprise was a bouquet of roses. They made the room smell awesome and made the room much prettier for the rest of our trip. I wish I could have taken them home.
Third was a tiramisu cake. "Red Queen" wasn't given a size when she ordered it and it was massive. So massive that we ended up having to share it with our bar staff the next day. It was delicious, but by the end I was completely stuffed.
The fourth was a whole plate of chocolate covered strawberries that were absolutely delicious.
The fifth and last surprise took me pretty off guard. We were eating in our favourite French specialty restaurant and were having a spectacular meal when "Red Queen" starts off by getting the bottle of Dom Perignon she had ordered ahead of time. The meal was fantastic and we were talking about how awesome the cruise was and our future together. When dessert came out I was absolutely floored by the little cake that came out that said "Will you marry me?" and all the staff that seemed to come out of nowhere including one of their staff photographers. I was so happy that I was crying and as you all know I said yes

It was a completely romantic and perfect vacation and one of the most special times of my life.

My FH and I had talked about how someday we would like to get married. I never expected the proposal though. He played it off so well. He took me to the location of our first date, a river in town that we walked along to help him de-stress, saying that he had a bad day at work and wanted to go there to relax with me. Conveniently, there was a new structure that had been recently added that acted as a lighthouse for boaters, and while I was distracted by the flashing lights he called my name, prompting me to turn back around, and that's when I saw the ring. I was crying my eyes out, even asked if he was being serious. I've always known he is the one for me, and I couldn't be happier that he finally asked me to marry him ! 💖

I knew it was coming, but was still surprised. I told him that I dreamed of having a Disney proposal, and then a few months later my entire extended family started planning a trip to Disney World. My FH and I had plans to spend one day at Disney just the two of us, before the rest of my family arrived. I assumed that he would propose that day. Well, our flight got cancelled and we were stuck. Once we finally got there, he had several ideas and potential opportunities that just didn't work out the way he wanted. Finally, he decided to just choose a random moment that felt right, and it was perfect! He caught me completely by surprise, and a Disney photographer caught the whole thing on camera.

I was surprised but it was also definitely somewhat expected. He is my best friend and we’ve been through so much already that we both know we couldn’t do anything without each other. We’ve only been together for a short amount of time but everything just feels so right when we are together that we both know we are meant to spend the rest of our lives together

Expected. My FH was engaged before to someone who completely clouded him. This led him to drag his feet with me and soon enough i got annoyed and asked him. We actually got into a fight because his family was supposed to be there and they tried making it about them so he kept asking me why i was so angry and i kind of just yelled it and he started laughing and said yes

The proposal was both expected and suprise. My fiance and i had talked about the idea of marriage for sometime so i knew it would be coming i just didnt know when. He proposed on memorial day in our bedroom (we live with my parents). He was going to do it the following Saturday at my college graduation party but he could not wait any longer. He told me how much he loved me and then got down on one knee and asked me. Of course i immediately asked him of he was messing with me like 5 or 6 timea. I cried, said yes, and well here we are now.

No, the way we got engaged was we just talked about it and decided it was time. We had been together 6 years at the time and 2 kids together. By the time we get married 5/24/2020 we will be together almost 9 years.
