Aw! So he brought you to pick out the ring!?

Mine was a total surprise. I had no idea. We spent our 6 year anniversary at Disney World. On our actual anniversary day I walked out of the room and there he was. On one knee. All I kept saying was ‘what are you doing?’ LOL! He told me he wasn’t getting up till I said yes. Of course I said yes once I emerged from my shock. We’re planning on getting married next year on our 7 year anniversary. 😻

TOTAL surprise! i'm glad it was...I didn't realize he was even thinking about it...He picked the perfect ring and even though he was nervous he spoke from his heart and it was perfect

I was expecting it tbh. But it wasn't any less sweet or touching

The engagement

Er, both?

We went to talk to the priest in August of '18, so from that point on I was expecting it. (We've also been together since 2012.) Hit a *small* snag with some... parental confusion? on his parents' part, but nothing major.

After that minor wrinkle, I basically started expecting it at every turn. By the holidays, I was going eeeeeeeeeever so slightly dotty because fiance started acting stranger and stranger and clearly my/our friends knew something was up, but pretended not to, and I'm a Ravenclaw so I can't let mysteries lie...

Had a minor breakdown one weekend because he hadn't proposed yet and everyone was asking ME what he was waiting for (...ask him, maybe?), and he had come up with first dance ideas and other planning suggestions but HAD NOT ASKED YET and all my own family of origin trauma...

I went to work on NYE saying, "look, I'm getting engaged tonight, or I'm burying a body". I walked into the party at our friends' apartment, saying, "he's proposing tonight, right? I did not put on makeup for nothing?"

Thankfully, he proposed before midnight.

So.. I knew? But I didn't know?

I got my hopes up two days before he asked me thinking he was going to that day and he didn’t. So i convinced myself he was probably never gonna ask😂 then he took me to see Christmas lights with my whole family and part of his so we could all get pictures together and asked me under a tunnel of lights and a mistletoe🥰 it was kind of a surprise to me but i also figured he might be because he was shaking when we got there lol

After 9 years of being together I was actually getting ready to tell him I was moving out and he popped the question the question before I said anything. totally unexpected.
