Surprising him with a Kilt

I can’t wait! My wedding gift to my groom is a complete kilt made from his maternal grandmothers tartan. Complete with belt, buckle, pin, cufflinks, tie clip, socks and flashes. He has no idea and I’m hoping he’ll wear it for the reception. He says he’s always wanted one so I’m thinking he will. We’re having a traditional hand-fasting within our ceremony and I made the hand-fasting ribbon out of his maternal grandmothers (Scottish) tartan sewed to my maternal grandmothers (Irish) tartan.

Has anyone else gifted their groom a kilt or had a kilt in their bridal party? Surprising him with a Kilt 1

One of my brothers's wife is from Nova Scotia, her mom a Scottish Canadian, her Dad from Scotland. So FOB and 3 uncles who always wear the formal dress of Scotland at any fancy affair, did so. It was very festive. They wear everyday ones, no jackets and such, more often, so the formal dress version really surprised many guests. Very nice. I hope he will enjoy it.

My now husband wore a kilt during our ceremony and reception! It was gifted to him by my parents since he recently found out his heritage is from Scotland. He wore it all day during our wedding day and he looked so handsome in it. 🥰
This is such an amazing gift you are giving your FH and he'll love it! Can't wait to see your pictures too!

Oh my gosh, that's stunning, love the kilt and you look gorgeous! Exactly how I'm hoping my FH will wear it too. I love the more casual look with the vest and sleeves rolled.

That sounds incredible! What a beautiful tradition. My FH has always loved his Scottish heritage, he really bonded with his grandmother learning all about it but since she passed there wasn't really anyone left who still wore the traditional dress. So glad we can try to bring that back in some way.

I have not done this but OMG such a wonderful, thoughtful idea. i love that you put some history into it. - make sure when you give it to him you let him no all the history of this very special item.
