Hi Brides!! I am sooo happy it’s finally 2022 and my big day is only 8 months away! I am curious what tasks have been a pain for you? Maybe one you didn’t expect to be difficult. For me it was getting and organizing addresses and figuring out how to get labels for my STDs! Lol idk why but that part...

Lol idk why but that part has been an annoying part of the process lol I’m like is this normal for me to be struggling like this? lol I laugh to myself thinking about it. What about you all?

Yes there are sooo many options out there and it’s kind of crazy how expensive wedding stationary is!

Like pretty much everyone else, the guest list. We got engaged right before the second round of local shut downs, so we decided early on to do a ceremony and then a one-year reception. We had a guest list for everyone to watch the ceremony on Zoom who would then be invited to the reception. Now that we’ve sent save the dates for the reception (per my mom’s insistence), my MIL is now wanting to add more people to the list. All I want to do is grab her by the shoulders and ask her where the heck were these people were a year ago when we sent the Zoom invites? Like, they aren’t good enough to see your son get married (albeit online), but they’re good enough to come party in person with us? To me, it’s kind of rude to be invited to the reception but not to watch the wedding online (space for watching it online was clearly not an issue). My parents and I are praying that some people on the list decide not to show up because we gave the venue an estimate of 100 (based on our Zoom invite guest count and knowing which family/friends would likely not show based on them not attending my brothers’ weddings), and now the list is hovering around 140 with the new additions.

I agree with everyone that's saying guestlist!! It's been tough finalizing a list (we both have large families), and now due to Covid we might have to cut/edit our numbers but we also need to send out STD's soon soo I'm stressing!

Just getting started was the hardest for me. I didn't know where to start!!!! But, once I visited 4 venues in one day, I picked my favorite and everything fell into place. Now, I'm having a hard time finding shoes I love. But, that seems like small potatoes.

Finding vendors that are not already booked and not taking up my entire wedding budget for one thing.

I'm still in the starting stages, but right now it's just trying to decide when is it 'appropriate' to send Save The Dates. We just booked out venue & realized our wedding is the same weekend as Balloon Fiesta (largest hot air balloon festival in the world), so I want guests to have ample time to book their accommodations.. but I feel like my mom is going against every idea I've said. She doesn't want me to go to David's Bridal to look at dresses, she doesn't think I should send out STD in February (we're getting married in September), things of that nature. I don't want to feel like I'm going against my mom but at the same time I'm a planner and I want to get things done so the closer it gets the less I have to worry. It doesn't help that my mom is across the US either.

My biggest issue was making flowers! We bought a bunch of flowers at hobby lobby but just didn't know where to start! It was definitely a daunting task! But it all turned out okay and this DIY bride is so excited to see everything come together!Surprisingly difficult wedding tasks? 1

So we had to postpone last June to this June. It was heartbreaking for me. Now we are in full on planning mode. I'm having a hard time deciding on what song to walk down the isle to. I don't want the traditional da da da da! lol Any suggestions? And we aren't doing a photo booth or candy bar because its all costing too much. I'm worried my guest will be bored or underwhelmed. Any suggestions? Thanks ladies! Happy Planning!

I’ve been searching for affordable photo booths and I can’t find anything that’s decently priced for my budget either. I’m intending on doing a DIY photobooth and using Polaroids for the picture taking part. Just a thought! Things are so inflated right now and it’s such an intense time to have a wedding. I really hope everyone who has a wedding planned this year can have that wedding, incl myself 😩

I hope you never have to do it again. I’m planning my 3rd wedding in Nov 2022 (I married my first husband twice) and was a wedding planner in DC. The best advice I can give a couple who wants to spend wisely or is on a stringent budget is limit the number of your guest list and wedding party. Both have the BIGGEST impact on how much you will spend. 2nd advice is pick one item you and your spouse agree to splurge on and manage the remaining items to your budget. Use the tools on Wedding Wire to know what to expect to pay for vendors in your area…including TIP expectations…something many brides overlook until the last minute. I’m so glad you found your dress. I agree that’s an emotional decision for any bride.
    Best wishes in your planning!

As a 3rd time bride (I had to marry my 2nd husband twice) and a retired wedding planner, it is absolutely acceptable to sit anyone with a wedding opinion down and walk them through your budget. Show them using WeddingWire app how much you have allocated per vendor, per plate, etc. The BIGGEST expense is based on number of guest AND your wedding party. You add a guest, you add plate, more alcohol, more favors, higher tip per guest. You add a wedding party…you add another gift, attire, your wedding reception cost all go up. Your budget will quickly be forgotten if those not managing to the budget get involved. It is also acceptable if you are paying for your wedding and others insist on adding guests to ask them to contribute to the budget. Good luck and best wishes.

Ooh, fiancé added people who weren’t on any list. He added them AFTER I had ordered and mailed invitations. Since he had the smaller guest list, I just ordered more. I hope they don’t show up.
