I'm trying to keep the carbon footprint low. Food and drinks will be locally sourced and extras taken home, decor will be reusable, I'm not using real flowers, nothing is disposable. Favors are bottles of wine in glass, so they'll keep if guests don't take them. Invitations will be on recycled paper...

I'm trying to keep the carbon footprint low. Food and drinks will be locally sourced and extras taken home, decor will be reusable, I'm not using real flowers, nothing is disposable. Favors are bottles of wine in glass, so they'll keep if guests don't take them. Invitations will be on recycled paper and sent via USPS. These are all basic and listed in every sustainability forum I've found. Does anyone have any other ideas? The entire event is inside.

I have! I'm actually going to get the day of stationery from Botanical PaperWorks. I didn't know it was women-run though, that's great! I considered it for the invitations, but we decided it would be a wasted expense. Most of our guests don't compost or have yards or even houseplants, so it's unlikely they'll plant a piece of paper because we asked them to. We figured recycling is a more reasonable ask and something guests will actually do. The day of stationery though I expect will be left by guests, so I can plant it in my mom's yard and make fairy gardens with the kids in my life.

Also, thank you for the original idea!

A couple things I forgot in a previous post:

If you're ordering things online, try to ship via USPS if you're in the US. USPS has a lower carbon footprint than other mail carriers because they have the same route every day instead of making special trips for deliveries. Similarly, don't order prime from Amazon.

If you can DIY items, for example I'm making bags for my wedding party instead of buying, it can also cut down on shipping. I buy the materials when I go to the (women owned!) fabric store for classes.
