Sweetheart cake price

Wondering what a typical price would be for a sweetheart cake for just my fiancée and I ( we are doing sundae bar for guests). I just received a quote and I thought it was rather high so I am curious what others have paid. Thanks!

What’s with all the zombie threads being resurrected? PPs six plus years ago were correct. It’s poor hosting to serve and enjoy something you are not offering to your guests. Ordering a cake to take home that no one sees is fine, of course. People do inappropriate things all the time so that’s no barometer.

Old thread but I'll try to be helpful. This depends entirely on where you live. In my HCOL area, it would be like $10/slice. Also, bakeries will have a delivery fee to actually bring it to your wedding. Some will only deliver if the order is a minimum size, so it might not even be an option if your cake is tiny. Would you have someone to go pick it up the morning of if needed?

Some of the weddings I've been to (including my own) had a sweetheart cake. The families knew about it and no one ever complained during the planning process. We had so many other desserts that people raved about, I'm not sure anyone noticed. We served some of the leftover cake at a brunch the next day. I've also seen a wedding where the top tier for the couple was a different flavor than what the guests got. That bothered me more than getting no cake at all, honestly.
I find it funny there were people saying "what about guests who are lactose intolerant?" If they couldn't have ice cream, they wouldn't be able to have cake frosting/filling, or possibly some of the entrées either.
