Head tables are rude since they split couples. I have had this happen to me when I was a BM, and both myself and my FH were uncomfortable and upset as neither of us new anyone else at the wedding.

Sweetheart. I refuse to let the dates of my bridal party sit/eat alone.

Every head table I've seen done has the BP's spouse or date seated at the table with them.

ETA: we are doing a sweetheart table.

I haven't seen anything BUT a sweethear table and the BP at tables with their SO's in years. Like maybe once. I feel like that 'presidential style' seating at a massive head table is kind of dated too.

We did a sweetheart table and had a wonderful time being "alone". I love seeing sweetheart tables at weddings and seeing the wedding party seating with their friends and relatives.

I wanted a sweetheart table but my FH wants a head table. We talked to our bp and they said they would really like to sit at our table with us, so it looks like that is the route we are going to take.

We're doing a head table, for no other reason than that's what we like best, and we've never seen a sweetheart table at a wedding we've been to.

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about the bridal party sitting with SOs, as the only 2 who aren't single are already both in the wedding party.

We are doing a sweetheart table because 2 people in our wedding party are going to be bringing their children and we didn't want to split couples.

Sweetheart table. I'm not splitting BP from dates/significant others, especially since some don't know as many people at the wedding. Also head table even with just parents & siblings wouldn't fit in our reception space [there are columns].

We're doing sweetheart table. We may even be able to spend a couple of minutes talking/eating! I haven't seen the head table done in many years- as a BM, I'd much rather sit with my friends/SO than the BP (unless I'm single and i'm hitting on them or something lol).

@Ashley- adding SO's to the head table does not make it a King's table. A head table is located at the front of the room and is often elevated. It is a long table, sometimes with two levels if the number of people is large.

A King’s table is a large rectangular or square table (depending on number of guests) for the entire bridal party including their guests, parents of the bride and groom and whoever else the bride and groom want to include.

We did a head table with all the BP and their SO'S....they were thrilled! Head tables are no more rude than sweetheart tables - it's quite simply personal preference. Rude is the single most overused term on WW.

Terri we see a lot of rude ideas, though.
