Swimout room: Is it worth it?

Hi Again! Some of you may have seen my recent posts regarding honeymoon stuff and here I am again with another question. I'm trying to decide if we should get a room with a swimout pool or not. FH had been absolutely no help with this decision! The price difference is $270 total for 5 nights. It looks romantic and part of me wants to splurge but the other part of me thinks what if we don't use it as much as I think we will between excursions and sitting on the beach. Have any of you had a room with a swimout pool? Did you feel like it was worth it or wish you would've spent that money elsewhere? Did you not get one and wish you would have? Any input would be helpful. I promise no more honeymoon questions after this lol ETA: The room does include a jacuzzi as well. The pool closes at 8pm

$270 per night or for the whole time?

If it's per night, I wouldn't splurge on this because it's not a private pool. I could see the idea of a private pool being super romantic, but it wouldn't be the same to sneak out at night to a shared pool and run into other couples. $270 for the whole time seems worth it.

For everyone that says we should do it because you only get one honeymoon... that's my thought too! We have three young kids so us going on this trip is like the ultimate getaway. It's hard enough for us to go to dinner and a movie these days. There's this voice in my head telling me to do it because if I don't I'll regret it. Even if we don't use it at least we had the option. If we don't get it now we won't have the option for a loooonnngg time

@Kreestan - Hi date twin! That's exciting!Where are you going for your honeymoon?

SPLURGE- you only honeymoon once just like you get 1 day for the wedding. To offset costs maybe use points on a credit card, whatever but do it. Enjoy.

When my FH took me to Greece to propose (it was all a surprise trip) he splurged and got the honeymoon suit with a plunge pool and a window we could go through to get into it from our bedroom is we wanted! It's not the exact same thing as a walk out pool but has the same idea. We loved it!!! We spent a decent amount of time while we were there relaxing in the pool/going back and forth when we needed something and enjoying the views from the island!

I was all for saying splurge until...

You have to be out of the pool by 8pm?!?!? That's stupid. If you could swim out at night I would definitely go for it, but I feel like FH and I don't even get back to the room until 8pm on most of our vacations.

Just keep in mind these swimouts are not private. If the guests right next you are enjoying their swim out, you will be very close to them and you will hear them.

Make sure you double check with travel agent. at royal riviera maya for example, the swim up rooms don't actually connect to the main pool, just to the rooms on that row. Double check but still, either way i would do it Smiley smile

My only concern would be that it's your honeymoon, and people could potentially be swimming past your room all day making noise, potentially kids. Kind of a mood killer, at least for me.

My friend got a room with a swim out pool on her honeymoon and LOVED it. She said it was totally worth the money and even got another one for their anniversary!

@FutureFrost - just thought I'd add, it's an adult only resort. I didn't want to see or hear any kids on my honeymoon, including mine lol

OP, we are going to Secrets Maroma Beach in Cancun!! I think ours came out to $306/night pp. Even with the upgraded room, our entire HM came out $500 under our budget so we don't feel guilty about the upgrade! Lol

I've never even heard of that! That's fuckin bomb! Do it! I'm assuming you can use it all night? Most hotel pools close, so I would totally use it at night

I would say at least splurge for a few days, that's what we are doing! This is the perfect reason to splurge so DO IT!

Is that a secrets resort? We were considering doing this, but our travel agent told us that other people swim in front of your room all day. It's not very private.
