Hi Again! Some of you may have seen my recent posts regarding honeymoon stuff and here I am again with another question. I'm trying to decide if we should get a room with a swimout pool or not. FH had been absolutely no help with this decision! The price difference is $270 total for 5 nights. It looks romantic and part of me wants to splurge but the other part of me thinks what if we don't use it as much as I think we will between excursions and sitting on the beach. Have any of you had a room with a swimout pool? Did you feel like it was worth it or wish you would've spent that money elsewhere? Did you not get one and wish you would have? Any input would be helpful. I promise no more honeymoon questions after this lol ETA: The room does include a jacuzzi as well. The pool closes at 8pm

I'm not much of a hotel pool person, but for only $270 extra total, GO FOR IT!

I haven't stayed in this type of room personally, but the idea definitely seems worth it!

I was looking at a resort with this option and when I mentioned it to DH, he thought it was awesome!

Is this your only option for an upgrade/splurge? Personally, I would go for a suite or preferred club upgrade first, then spa time over the swim up. Is your FH a pool/swim guy?

But, it is really convenient to just walk out the door and jump into the water. Just make sure you lock your sliding door when you're not in the room, and keep in mind any one can swim in front/around of your space.

FH and I stayed on the 4th floor at our resort in Mexico, and just going up and down and around just to get into the pool got old quickly. It would have saved some time with the swim up. I had a chance to upgrade to the separate preferred area, and by the time I decided to book it, all of the rooms were sold out. I wish I had done it earlier, and not missed out. We also had a jacuzzi in the room and we didn't spend too much time in it together - I like HOT water, FH likes cold water.

Read guest reviews for the resort on travel websites - cheapcaribbean, trip advisor, etc.. You said FH hasn't given much input, but what do you really think he would enjoy?

Splurge. We're looking into Excellence Playa Mujures and staying in a two story roof top with a private pool on the roof. We're definitely splurging, when that time comes.

I looked at this in the past. A few things made me decide against it...1. Reviewers complained if a mildew odor in rooms with swim out. I'm super sensitive to odors. 2. I like I to have fun and meet people at the resort pools. If you prefer quieyer resort experiences, a swim out could be a great choice.

If it's only an extra $270 total I'd go for it....We didn't..But the room with it (and other extras) was an extra $1200!!

It's really not that much. It just seemed like after baggage fees and travel insurance and the swim out pool all the small stuff started adding up but we've never gone on a big trip so I think in the end it'll be worth it. Woohoo! I got this shit locked diwn

I would splurge for an ocean front room but not a swim-out. I have been to a few resorts that had swim-outs and it seemed like there was no privacy. Anyone could wade in front of your room at any time of day or night. But ocean front? Worth it!

Do it! The honeymoon package we got had to have the minimum of the swim out room. We haven't gone yet obviously but I'm already happy we went with it!

From the picture I would say no. I thought it was to like a private something or another.

If you have to be out of the pool by 8 pm.............no, not worth it. If you could take a midnight swim under the moon, yes, definitely worth it otherwise, nope.
