    Picnic reception! Haha just kidding

I have no advice besides just calling a bunch of places and see who can offer you the best deal.

Yeah that's what I'm doing so far, I did throw the idea around about using hay but I know there will be a few older pelpoe that will need chairs, so I'm trying to find chairs.

Do you and FH belong to a church or know someone that is part of a church? I had a 60 person bbq last year in my backyard and my sister and BIL borrowed folding chairs and folding tables from their church for me. With table cloths and sashes (or chair covers) the regular tables and metal chairs would look fine.

This is why having a backyard wedding is not necessarily less expensive. You need to rent decent looking chairs at about $2 per chair or if you borrow chairs and use sashes or chair covers you are still looking at about $2 per chair. Tableclothes are about $10 per table or more. If you have the cashflow I would suggest buying them and selling them after the wedding rather than renting them. It's not that much more expensive just to buy them.

If you are using a caterer you might be able to find one that has chairs, tables, tableclothes and chair covers/sashes. That might be your best bet.

Sami B had a good suggestion, asking around your church or if you're affiliated with any other places like that. One piece of advice though, make sure you have a plan B if it rains. I just watched an episode of 4 weddings where it was a backyard wedding and they even had tents, but the rain was so hard the roofs were sagging so they all just crammed inside this house. Always have a plan B!

I was in love with this idea of a backyard wedding, but the coordination of porta potties, parking AND planning for rain was just too much for me to comfortably handle. Here's my backyard inspiration =).

I've also heard of people borrowing them from schools. They will often have a bunch of folding chairs that they can put up in the auditorium for things like school plays.

I'm not sure where you are, but Groupon just had a deal for chair and table rentals for DMV area. It sounded reasonable to me. I never saw groupon for that before though.
