Table cloth length? Buy or rent?

Danielle, on January 8, 2013 at 5:36 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

My wedding and reception are going to be outside, on the grass. I want to do table cloths to avoid it looking like a backyard BBQ, but I'm not sure what length to go with? With it look bad if they are lap length? I don't want it to accidentally get stepped/caught on and pull the whole table cloth and everything crashing down, but I think I like the long look better? What did/are you doing and why?

Also, I'm thinking of buying instead of renting. From my rental company, I can rent table clothes for 10-20 dollars per, depending on the size. But I found these on amazon (free shipping!) so I think I might go that route instead. Did anyone else buy instead of rent? Are you glad you did or do you regret it?

    I bought mine from linentablecloth.com

They have big sales sometimes and I bought all mine for way less than I could have rented them. FREE shipping too. We are getting married outside on a farm and got the lap length or a lil longer...not floor length. I love floor length look but I won't be able to resell as easily if they have grass stains all over them. I'm way happy I bought.

We bought our tablecloths for a few dollars less than what we would pay to rent. We ordered from CV Linens and they had free shipping! Sign up for their newsletter-they send out discount codes.

I was going to rent...but they were same price as buying, so i bought...ironed...and used them. But now I look back, I think i should have rented because they are lying somewhere in my pile of stuff, probably never to be used.

Linentablecloth.com has a little tool where you can select the table size you're using and see how long the different size tablecloths fall on them. It was pretty useful for me! I ended up just buying table runners instead. Super cheap at $2-3 a piece at tableclothsfactory.com. And I got them superrr fast Smiley smile

We're doing 6" above the ground and are going to buy them. I've been checking Craigslist but may end up doing linentablecloth.com

Rent, rent, rent! Who's going to have time or inclination to IRON the tablecloths you buy at the reception site the morning of the wedding?

Thanks for the help! I am doing my wedding at a vacation rental home and I have it booked the day before my wedding too so there will be time for me (or the people helping me) to iron if I need, so I'm not too worried about that.

@ Rayy_chull I'll have to check out this tool that you are talking about. Sounds like exactly what I need for this! Thanks!

I'll look at the other recommended sites as well, thanks ladies!

We went the linentablecloth.com route. After use, we washed them, dried them, then rolled them up to keep them from getting wrinkles or creases, and sent them off that way. We recovered most of the money we had spent through the resale.

We used floor length, but it really depends on how formal you want to be.

Your linens should be floor length. Most tables have ugly legs, so floor length linens look best.

The great part of buying your own is that you can use them again or wash them and sell them after your wedding and get a few $$$. We purchased linens. The head table will have floor length and the others will have lap length.

@ 2d Bride - Rolling them?! Thats a great idea! I can iron them ahead of time, roll them, and take them to the venue like that. That way, even if they still get some wrinkles, it won't be nearly as many and easier for the morning of! Thanks so much for that idea!

And as a couple on a budget, getting some of my money back afterwards would be a huge help : )

@ Ms. A - I think going with 3/4 length is the perfect compromise for me. My rental place has an actual location so when I go there to look at other stuff, I will ask them to see the linens that length on an actual table and that will give me a better idea, but that is probably the route I will go! Thank should still give an elegant length, while avoiding it getting stepping/caught on.

I was debating the same thing, and I'm thinking I'm going to buy them... I'm also struggling with table length which has delayed me ordering them but when i'm done I'm going to gift them to my caterer as a pay it forward/extra tip, since it's the women's group for the club I'm using

    Try: efavormart.com

for great ideas, go to http://www.tableclothcontessa.com/

You could always pay a few extra dollars and have your cleaners iron them.

I used http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/. I paid $180 (includes shipping) for 200 silver satin chair sashes and 20 round satin white table cloths. I compared the price difference with linentablecloth.com and I paid half of what linentablecloth.com costs for the same exact fabric/color/quantity!

Future Mrs. D, I also found tableclothsfactory to be less expensive! And they shipped my order super fast and the quality/color was exactly what I expected. I had an issue with linentablecloth and their color they pictured/what it actually was. In the end, they agreed to exchange, but I decided it wasn't worth the extra work Smiley sad

    Thanks for suggesting tableclothfactory!

They have really great prices on there too! I think I can get all the things I am looking for on linentablecloth for a little cheaper though so I will probably go that route.

Now I'm just deciding on how I want to do the tables. I don't really have the tiny details visioned yet, just the big picture. How are you ladies doing your linens to tie into your vision of decorations and to accommodate your guests?

Linentablecloth.com is amazing. I ordered all white and the discount ones In my size.. They say that anything can be wrong with them. I had little black marks that wash out. And they cost like 6 bucks... So much cheaper than renting since the area I'm in I keep finding 20$ a table+

We purchased the spandex tablecloth from Sculptware and will be reusing in my cousins wedding. The quality of material we received was wonderful. The biggest advantage in buying the table covers is you can resell it and a portion of amount is covered back. I would suggest you check with them if they have your colors.
