Table Name Display Ideas; Vintage + Old Town Names

KH479, on August 13, 2021 at 11:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8

Howdy Fellow Brides! Smiley love

We are in the midst of planning our April 2022 wedding. The theme is a mixture of vintage early 20th century Americana and farmhouse.

We are both really into history and genealogy-- so we are doing some things to nod to our family histories and highlighting the differences (and similarities) between our Ozarks and Appalachian roots.

I have the idea to name our tables after different areas where our families are from as a fun element.

For example-- Mercer County. Pleasant Plains, and Swifton vs. "Table 1, Table 2, Table 3".

I want to display these table names in a unique way vs. just putting it in a photo frame as I initially conceded to. I know the table names themselves will be a source of pride and discussion for many of our older relatives as well as questions from the younger ones.

Any ideas on how we could incorporate this in a unique, but tasteful and not too over-the-top way?

Are there any pictures you could use and convert into watermarks? Before my husband and I canceled our big wedding plans, our theme was HBCU love since we are both HUGE fans of our college alma maters (which are somewhat rivals) and planned to use the names of the buildings on our respective college campuses as our table names. We had found and/or taken pictures of the buildings we wanted to use and converted them to watermark backgrounds to use behind the table names in picture frames. We also had a matching picture frame with some info about the respective buildings for each table.

I think it would be cool to find the places on old maps and have the maps be the background for the table names

I like Mcskipper's idea of the maps as backgrounds - or could you find photos of older homes/barns/structures in those towns/places that you could then put the name over?

I love these ideas! You could use old photos of ancestors that you've found in your research to go along with the place name. That would really be interesting to your guests and add a personal connection.

I LOVE the idea! As others have suggested, use a map or pictures to display. We have a beach theme, so are using Starfish, Flamingo, Blue Heron, etc as our table markers. Pictures on the table with matching stickers on the little table place cards.
