Table number ideas that aren't numbers?

Tossing around the idea of using assigned seating. I go back and forth. Mainly - I don't want our friends that don't know a lot of people to get stuck sitting with my crazy aunt, etc etc. I was hoping to do something more creative than numbers, but I can't seem to come up with 25 of anything else....

Anyone doing table assignments or have ideas?

We've got a game-theme for our wedding, so instead of table numbers, we've got a scrabble table, a trivial pursuit table, a mario table, etc. I'm customizing the centerpieces to reflect the specific table that they're on Smiley smile.

We are getting married on the 4th of July and are having a vintage 4th of July theme.

I found a book of old love letters from past presidents to their wives. We are naming each table after a president and in the center of our table we will have a picture frame that will have a quote from the one of the love letters with the corresponding president's name on the bottom.

We think it will be a nice nod to our date but still focusing on the fact it's a wedding.

We definitely are assigning tables (NOT SEATS--people can sit where they want to at their assigned table); at my future brother-in-law's wedding, there were no assigned tables and it was such a mess.

Check with your venue, but most will be fine with non-numbers. My partner and I watch a lot of TV together--we alternate between shows that one of us loves and the other one hasn't seen. Instead of table numbers, we're going with names of restaurants/eateries from those shows (even got the right fonts for the shows!).

Cheers, Central Perk, JJ's Diner, Cafe Nervosa, McLaren's, Der Waffle Haus ... etc.

I was going to do names associated with different pictures we took but decided to stick with just putting the table number and then next to it including a picture of us with a little description. You can kind of see it in this photo of my wine bottle at the top.

I was going to say as someone else mentioned, you can still use numbers but put a picture of each of you at an age as the table number. I had a friend do this at a wedding and it was cute. It also feels like to me, more of a cute thing and "look at that!" rather than.. wow, I ended up at table 24. Know what I mean?

To follow up with FutureMrsP and Laudie's example, perhaps have the table numbers have Both a number and a picture/fun saying. That way the servers can still see the table numbers and your guest can find their table easier. 25 tables with only words as identifiers makes it difficult for your guests to find their tables. If their escort card has a table number assigned to it, then they can see the pattern in the tables and find their table faster. Most venues put odd on one side, even on the other and count out from the center of the room.

We're doing numbers, but not in the conventional sense. We're using uniform numbers of our fave Mets, and the escort cards will be baseball cards of the aforementioned players and the guest name instead of the ballplayer's name. Of course this is subject to change.

Our theme is a beach/ocean theme so the table numbers will actually be names of different beaches FH and I have been to...whether seperately or together.

We're doing both numbers and a subject. Each table will be named after a fandom we love (both separate or together), but they"ll also be numbered in case anyone isn't familar with things like Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc.

We haven't decided yet but did see at one of the venues we looked at the word Love in different languages for each of the tables.

We travel to see the Phillies play at different stadiums, so we're naming the tables after stadiums and the escort cards are (fake) tickets to a game at the stadium.

For the ice cream thing, there's a bedtime storybook called The Sesame Street Bedtime Storybook. In it is a story called Grover's 26 scoops. You could use those ice cream flavor names. Make your favorite your own table and you have 25 left.

ETA: obviously the flavors are one for each letter. Assign the tables alphabetically.

We named our tables after the fairstar as we met onboard that ship, many years ago. Quite a few of our friends have also been on that ship and a trip down memory lane is always good.
