Table Numbers or Themed Tables

Erika, on November 18, 2019 at 9:19 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 14
Are you/did you use regular numbers or did you name your tables based on places you've traveled to, favorite things or anything fun?

Trying to decide which one to do

I don’t have pics on my phone but for our 50’s/60’s reception we printed era singers in a 5x7 frame with the singer’s name: Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin. My hubby printed the black/white photos at work for free and the frames cost us $1 at Dollar Tree!

I’m a musician and each table is an instrument that I, my fiancé, or a family member plays. I mainly did it because we have so many divorces I didn’t want to “rank” anyone. I know table numbers aren’t ranks but my family is a little crazy about stuff like that.

Not me, but my best friend is having a boho vibe to her outdoor wedding so she named each table with a woodland animal (fox, owl, rabbit, etc). Super cute!!

Do both! In fact, I recommend adding a number if you decide to do a theme so it is easier for guests to find their table.

I think it really depends on if you have a clear vision in your head of what those themes would be. If we had planned a seated reception (we opted for cocktail party for less than 50 people so no assigned seating) I kind of imagined our tables would each be themed for something nerdy we love like a Harry Potter table, one for Doctor Who, another for comic books. Each of those tables would have included cute items from those themes as the centerpiece with a lantern or candle to make it look cohesive. You can also pick one theme like Game of Thrones and name each table after a different location or house. If none of that appeals to you, numbers are really nice and easy.

We're going to use our engagement pictures and instead of numbers, we're going to use the NATO phonetic alphabet! We're getting married in an airplane hangar, so we thought it was only fitting lol. For our centerpieces, half tables will have globes and the other half will have antique-looking airplanes, along with votives, brass candlestick holders, and brass vases.

    Here's an example:

We did table names. We got married in a vineyard, so our table names were vineyards we had been to together. It was a cute way to incorporate things we had done as a couple, while also sticking with the vibe of the wedding.

We;re kind of doing both. Each of our tables has a graphic on it that represents Colorado (where we're from and getting married), but will also have numbers on them.

We are using postcards of places we have traveled to instead of numbers.
