Table runner

Lorilla, on June 23, 2017 at 1:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25

Do you have to have table runners? We have round tables for our wedding and it is outside so we don't want anything to blow away. I am having trouble coming up with an idea for our tables. We are getting married at a vineyard so the theme is more rustic. But burlap, canvas and twine are so overdone. Any ideas or suggestions?

No, table runners aren't necessary. If there's a particular look you like and you have the budget for it, there's nothing wrong with having a table runner, but it's certainly something you can skip, too.

We had satin table runners. They're not necessary, but I like them.

If you want them, Amazon has a pretty good selection.

I'm getting married at a vineyard also! Table runners aren't necessary at all. What kinds of tables will will be used? I think that will have a lot to do with how you decorate them.

What do you mean "an idea for our tables?" Tablecloths? Centerpieces? It would be super helpful if you provided some more information.

No. I just need ideas for the table runners if I actually need them. I have the center pieces already. I am painting wine bottles black and adding twine or lace and I think fake flowers. We are using round round tables and the table cloths are white.

I think it would depend on what the tables look like. My venue is providing nice wood farm tables but if they were the old school plastic folding tables I would have something to cover them.

Are you sitting your centerpiece on some type of platform or anything? If so, I would say no to the table runner. I've definitely been to lots of weddings that don't use runners.

I personally like table runners to give additional depth to the table/centerpiece. If you're going with white linens, it might be nice to break it up the all white look. Again my personal preference.

My venue only offers rectangular tables so I feel like I need them. I wanted a natural fiber that didn't read as country so I choose cheese cloth. To buy them is sort of expensive so it will be a diy. My mom and I are going to buy a 100 yard roll of high density cloth (90 grade) and dye it. This is he look I am going for:

As the pp's have said, no one needs table runners. They can add to your decor however, and in your case could help weigh down the tablecloth if you are concerned about the breezes.

-Reed fencing- cut it to width and length- make sure the lengthwise rows of stitching are close together so it stays together when you cut it

    -twig runners

    -woven upholstery webbing

-wood grain contact paper- stick it right on the tablecloth

    -twig

-mirror tiles- you could also use an inexpensive framed mirror from WalMart- they have $9 full length wall mirrors

    -fake grass

I forgot to mention cork- perfect for a winery. You can use rolls of thin cork, cork tiles or ready made cork runners.

I personally like table runners. We are having them just to keep everything from looking washed out with all the ivory and pale pinks. Ours are navy. I got them from cvlinens.com super quick and great prices!

They aren't necessary but can look nice. We are doing table runners because the venue provides all white linens so we wanted a table runner to add more color to the tables.

We did long tables and round tables. On the long tables I had a lace table runner. On the roundtables I had a lace overlay so everything matched.

They definitely aren't needed but I absolutely wanted the lace

I'm not a fan of burlap either, but it's cheap to buy and personalize! We're just doing white table cloths so I wanted something. We're going to do lanterns and a flower/greenery halo thing.

Like PP have said you don't have to do table runners if you don't want to. I work for an event rental company and honestly I always tell people it is up to what they vision. Not everyone has the same vision. I would suggest trying to see if you can visit a linen company or event company to do a showroom appointment. You don't have to go through with the quote but you can see the options. If you have centerpieces it will help to help the runner in place and in most cases you will have table settings (plate settings) on the runner too. I would also look at maybe doing overlays on half the tables just to break it up if you don't want everything so matching. Just an option. But again up to what you fell. Table runners do look good on round tables if that is your concern.

Sorry for the long comment! Good luck!
