Table setting for a buffet

Chelsea, on September 23, 2016 at 3:34 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Okay, it's crunch time and I still have loads to do! We are having a wedding on Cape Cod (at 5pm) and I am having trouble figuring out what to put on the tables. It's a lobster bake so I want to keep things casual, but it's also at night so I need some balance. It's a buffet and the caterer provides heavy duty, disposable, plates, napkins and utensils but that leaves me with bare tables.

Advice on centerpieces for this type of wedding? I want something pretty but I also think I should just have silver buckets in the center of each table for shells.

The caterers will bus the table but we do not have anyone that will go around and refill the water cups. Do I still keep water cups at each table and just have a family member fill them with ice and water right before the ceremony? Do I buy 130 glasses for that or just have a drink station with clear plastic cups by the buffet?

Should I buy linen napkins and maybe heavy duty "silver" plasticware? Any advice is much appreciated!

So, I'm having a taco man which isnt exactly buffet, but it is serve yourself.

I'm having black linens with a table runner and jars with candles and vases with metallic branches as centerpieces.

(I'm doing long banquet style dining, not round tables)

If you're doing round, go for bigger centerpieces. Mine are small since the table is long and narrow vs wide and round. Even have a few - like a vase of flowers next to a glass w/ candle, and a cool looking table number.

Table runners really help it cut the space though.. maybe consider it!

I'm also having a taco man with good quality disposables. So I'm thinking of setting my tables like this. I feel like the doilies almost act like a charger. I think this would work on rectangular tables as well. I'm doing linen napkins because tacos are messy but everything else will be disposable.

I think you should have the cups by the buffet, I suggest glass cups. Also, yes buy linen napkins, and regular eating utensils. I don't like plastic, personally, but if that's what you want, go for it. Please keep me posted!

Thank you for your comments! (I've never used this I don't know if I'm supposed to tag you and if so how to do that lol) The tables are round, some seat 6 some seat 8. I'm going to have white table cloths. I love the picture above with the red napkins. It's just throwing me off because we have round tables so I don't know how I would arrange flowers or other stuff with the bucket in the center. I actually bought those doilles yesterday. They look great in the above picture they just didn't look good against my white tablecloths. I could do a long white linen napkin with the favor (koozies) on top and put real silverware inside?

Or a menu inside the koozie and the silverware set on the sides?

Those are perfect! I like it on the sides but it doesn't look bad inside neither. Up to you! Maybe the flowers on the sides of the bucket? You can do 2 small flower decor on each side of the buckets. Smiley smile

I like it on the sides too. How do you feel about the menu even though it's a buffet? On the RSVP card they chose which meat they would like (so the caterer only makes that amount of each meat) but they don't know what sides will be provided. My only concern is they will change their mind about what meat they want!
