Table Setting for Buffet Dinner?!

Elizabeth, on September 24, 2013 at 12:38 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

My wedding is in less than 2 weeks, ahhhh!! Craziness!

My venue sucks and despite also being the caterers, we have to set our own tables, etc!! We are having a buffet dinner, so the plates will be up by the food. What are people with buffets doing for table settings?? The linens are white and the napkins will be navy. There will be ball jars for water on the tables, but I don't know what else to put to make it look not so empty. Each table will have a simple floral centerpiece with the vase sitting on top of a wood slice. There will also be 3-4 votive candles (candleholders decorated with washi tape in our colors) around the wood slices. What all should be displayed on the table? There will be no table numebrs or favors... And the napkin fold needs to be something easy that my mom/future mother in law can tackle!!

    There are all kinds of tutorials for folding napkins.

    I like the pocketfold napkins. Super easy to do.

    You can google for different options - placing silverware inside, menu cards etc.

    @Amy....Beautiful!!

    @Elizabeth...I was wondering the same thing. We are just having cocktail hour with heavy hors d'oeuvres so I'll be looking for ideas as well.

    WHOO HOO! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! So exciting!

    Honestly, if you're not doing favors, I suppose the centerpieces, napkins and water jars will be just fine. I think it's better to have too much room than not enough. =)

    Those fans are super super easy to make. I've done them a billion times and they always look nice.

    And I too agree, with too much room than not enough. I went to a plated dinner in December, I had a champagne glass, coffee cup and saucer, water goblet, and all the stupid plates, and when I got a soda, I had nowhere to set it at on the table!!! I had to HOLD it!

    I agree less is more.

    Amy's picture makes me realize how much the table runner really adds to the table. If it is within your budget, that may be something to consider as well.

    I'm having a buffet too. I plan for the tables to have the centerpieces (which include the table numbers), napkins, flatware, and favors out.

    I'm not sure how we will fold the napkins. I'm thinking we are going to tie the flatware in sets using purple curling ribbon and just place them on top of the napkin with the favors on top towards the center.

    This is very helpful to me, thanks so much for asking!

    May I ask when you'll do the set up? We'll have to set up too and have no idea how to figure out timing...

    I am putting my flatware out and napkins will have a blingy napkin ring. Also I found very inexpensive tiny salt and pepper shakers that I will put about 2-3 sets on each table. I like less clutter on tables
