Hi ladies! Where is everyone getting things for your reception table setting? I feel like i need to use the same place for everything to make sure it all matches but i do not know who to order from!

Are you having plated or buffet? Typically you rent place settings from the caterer or a local party rental business. Because unless you regularly host 100+ people at parties or have a house of worship to donate to afterwards, purchasing is more expensive than renting.

I am having a plated dinner. The venue, who is also providing catering only has white table clothes, white and black napkins. There is only one party supply place near the venue and it is almost just as cheap to buy the things and know that they are new and in good condition. My wedding will be very small - probably only 25-30 people so it is not that much of an expense.

Our reception hall includes the table settings but I’m using Amazon for all the little extras I want to include

I have been scouring Amazon as well! In my area it seems rentals are more than purchase! I can rent at 130" tablecloth for $14.99 or buy one for $12.29. I think I will choose the latter!

I’ve noticed the same thing! You can always resell them after the wedding and get some money back too! Wedding resale is huge

Yes! I will either resell or keep for other occasions - small wedding - Also, I am 45 and have grown girls who are unmarried, maybe they will want to use some of the items? Who knows, but they will decide before too long I am sure!

You also have to consider who will be setting up. Are you recruiting family or are your vendors setting up? You have to add your time and sanity which are money and transportation of the items, as well as figuring out what to do with everything afterwards, and rentals end up being cheaper in the long run.

Check out Efavormart and Tablecloth Factory, if you haven’t already.

I have, and I am! Do you think I would need to order them all from the same company to keep the color consistent?

Have you tried HomeGoods? I've found affordable patterned tablecloths, napkins, and runners for parties and often reuse them. If they are too large, you can easily sew them for your needs. I appreciate the thought of passing them down to your daughters. I borrowed 2 handwoven tablecloths from my mom to personalize my own wedding.

Great idea! I have not even thought of that! Thank you for the suggestion! That is sweet that you were able to use items from your moms wedding! I am sure it made it even more meaningful!

I’ve looked through Amazon, the Christmas tree shop, Michaels, hobby lobby and found a lot of stuff and I’ll be trying to sell it all after!

I think it depends on your wedding colors. For example, our colors are Marsala and Blush and most of the burgundy tablecloths we saw in-person are too red. We were looking for more of a dark burgundy/wine color, so, instead of ordering and returning, we decided to go with what our venue provides (white tablecloths, dusty rose/mauve napkins) for our reception tables. We did, however, order cocktail tablecloths (Efavormart) and sheer runners (Ling’s Moment) in dusty rose, and they are slightly different colors. We don’t plan on returning them though, as they are close enough and won’t be in the same room.
