Table Suggestions

Julia, on December 12, 2023 at 2:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

My fiance and I are having a very low-key, non-traditional wedding. Our date is 9/13/24. We will have the ceremony and the receiption in the same tent, at the same tables. We have about 80 guests. We have two dilemmas... one, I want to make sure everyone can see our vows and two, one of our "fun" ideas is to have board games and cards available for guests to play. I was thinking a 60" round table, but that seems like it is huge to be playing a game or cards across. Also, what should I do about center pieces? Obviously not huge, so the guests can see and then should I have someone come collect them when they play games?

I’d think the game IS the centerpiece. Maybe some small flowers on top, but nothing that’s trouble to move out of the way so they can play. You can also use that in place of table numbers. “Oh, I’m seated at the Cataan table,” etc.

I agree with Andrea! Make the games the center piece. I think that's a fun and very memorable idea!

I think board games at a wedding reception is the kind of thing that sounds more fun in theory than reality. Smaller tables are more conducive to board games but that will mean more tables which means people will be further away than you want. Also, just because you want low key and non-traditional, doesn't mean your guests are in need of distraction. In fact, I think that games can be a distraction that prevents people from socializing and mingling in a casual setting.
