Tablecloth/Runner Colors

Sarah, on February 19, 2016 at 3:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

So my colors are purple, leaf green, and gray (for the men). Orginally, I was thinking of doing something similar to the photo, but with a darker purple color. Now, I've found out that my caterer includes white tablecloths in their price! Practically speaking, I should just take the free tablecloths, but now I don't know what to do about the rest of the table. I don't think purple lace looks as elegant as white/ivory lace. Maybe I could just put a purple runner underneath the lace? Maybe purple flowers and napkins would be enough color? I just don't think the lace is going to be noticeable on top of a white tablecloth, and might even look dingy next to white. I really love lace though! Any ideas?

Hard one. I probably wouldn't put white or ivory lace on white tablecloths, and I agree about purple lace not being nearly as elegant.

My colors are purple and gold. I'm also taking the free white linens. I am debating about buying purple napkins to set on each place so that the color is enhanced, but it's really not necessary since white is still considered bridal. So I'm doing solid gold and purple runners and a full gold tablecloth just for the sweetheart table.

Just flip flop your colors and do a purple lace table runner like this!

ETA: If you look up "purple lace table runner" on etsy, a lot comes up.

Agree, I wouldn't do a lace runner. I would probably do purple napkins. Maybe try out the purple runner with a lace overlay (but that might get pricey). Are you thinking of doing the candles on the tables also, like in the picture? You could maybe wrap a pretty lace ribbon around them to incorporate it. Or around the flower centerpieces.

I would probably go with the dark purple solid runner with matching napkins. Like Kpizzle said, you can add the lace on top of the purple solid, but I think that would be expensive.

You're right, adding runners would make it more expensive. I'll stick to purple accents (napkins, flowers) and call it a day. @kpizzle the lace around the vases/candles is a good idea! Thanks for the help!

Just an option if you could find crinkle taffeta in a purple table runner, those are so pretty with the extra texture. Not sure if you like that look or not, I'm also a big fan of the pin tuck table runners as well, I feel it just adds that special something.

Honestly play around, I bought some test linens to mock up different ideas on my dinner table, it has helped me a ton to see it in person, also gave me ideas I hadn't considered as well Smiley smile

Our colors are purple and silver - luckily our caterer includes colored linens in their price! While our main color is purple, we decided to go with silver tablecloths and purple napkins/runners (we'll also have purple featured in our centerpieces). I absolutely LOVE purple but my fiancé was worried it would be too much to have purple tablecloths everywhere and after some discussion about it I (reluctantly) saw his point!

See how much an "upgrade" to colored linens might cost (I think the upgrade to "patterned design" linens is a few dollars per tablecloth for us - we're planning to have a FEW patterned accent tables for the guest book, place cards, etc.). If it's not too much of a difference and you don't have too many tables it may be worth it! Good luck Smiley smile
