Taco..bout a Wedding !! lol

Soon2BLopez, on August 22, 2017 at 3:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

Just wanted to start my tittle discussion with something funny ... so FH and I are still kinda trying to plan whats for Dinner, our wedding will be outdoors and i know people have said outdoor weddings are more if not the same price as doing it inside but that is the idea we wanted to go with.. anyways so one of the things we have talked about was to do a buffet style and we wanted to do BBQ ( brisket, mac n cheese corn and something else still checking) we have american friends as well as other ethnicities, we are Mexican and one of the things that FH and I love are Tacos, when we have our weekends off from the kids we pretty much always end up eating tacos and we had talked about a taco stand kind of like street tacos and we will also be having another of our favorite which is mole (goggle its pretty delicious) but we thought a taco stand would be pretty cool,we will have someone serve the tacos of your choice.. so what do yall think, give me your honest opinion

The cart will take too long to get that many people through the line.

You could do it buffet style though. Have out all the tortillas, lettuce for taco salads, a variety of meats, veggies, rice and beans and every topping known to man.

I think a taco station will work, Im having that for the cocktail hour only. I know what mole is my fellow Mexican, are you giving rice with the mole? It might work.

I'll take five. But seriously if you have that many people you might want to have two people serving.

Yes yall are actually right.. something i am going to talk to FH about, I really just didnt want to have 2 styles of food and i know some of our friends who are american would probably not want to eat spicy or mexican food and other would probably want to give it a try, the other food that i had mention was mole which is served with rice and beans so that for sure will be on the buffet table the tacos traditionally are pretty much served with the tortilla your choice of meat, lime and salsa so no cheese on this tacos or lettuce

We did food stations for dinner because we wanted that kind of casual feel and the taco station was the most popular! my advice if you go this route is to do one more station than you think you need...even if say all 3 of them are doing tacos, you need to be mindful of how many people need to cycle through to get their dinner. hopefully your venue/caterer can advise you on how to make it happen.

I like the idea of tacos for apps or late night snack. I haven't heard many success stories with using food trucks or made to order vendors as the main meal.

I would love that! As long as I don't have to wait in a really long line to get food. That would also be a great way to integrate a vegetarian or vegan option since the others are BBQ.

I love tacos!! It's my favorite dinner, but I know when I eat them I make a mess! I'd be hesitant to have any at a wedding as a guest.

Tacos are delicious!! You could have flour and hard tortillas, beef, chicken, beans, peppers, lettuce, different salsa choices, cheese, guac, sour cream, etc. etc. with rice, beans, corn as sides. Sure they might be messy, but guests who are worried about that can make a taco salad instead and eat it with a fork. My cousin had a stations buffet for their wedding- tacos, an Asian-style station and an Italian station and it was a huge hit!

However, I wouldn't serve tacos and BBQ -- that's a weird combo. Pick one or the other, or add a third station.

The question of only serving tacos, as an wedding reception entree course, was on WW not too long ago. The majority of posters said it's not enough.

As a late reception snack or rehearsal dinner would be okay, though.
