Tailor Made Dresses

I have been on the fence about a dress for the last 8 months. I don't want a typical wedding dress because I've been married before. I want something exquisite but not too over the top. My MOH (my daughter) says I never do anything low key. LOL Anyway, I want something that will be jaw-dropping but not in white. I was thinking since our colors are purple and silver, that I would do a silver dress with a detachable bottom so instead of changing in the midst of the reception, I could just take off the bottome and it would be a knee length dress. Did any other bride have their dress made just for them?
