Tall Brides - Share Some Photos!

Jennifer, on October 1, 2020 at 8:21 AM Posted in Community Conversations 4 3
Hello!

I’m taller than my fiancé and all the wedding photo examples and posing tips I’ve seen online show a shorter-than-her-groom bride.
I’d love to see some taller brides so I feel a bit better 🙈

So, I am not taller than my fiancé, but I have been taller than 90% of the guys I’ve dated.. so I totally understand the struggle of wanting beautiful pictures where you don’t feel like an Amazon woman next to your man! I have always found that posture (him standing tall, you posing with feet wider apart or dropping a shoulder or leaning into him or leaning back when he kisses you like you’re about to dip, or him leaning down to kiss your shoulder) and using your environment (having him stand on higher ground, a curb, etc.) helps a ton. Usually my favorites are seated pictures. If you were sitting on his lap, it is already expected that you were taller than him and it doesn’t look out of place. Or, have him seated higher than you- this works especially well on a staircase where you can be seated a couple stairs below him. and never underestimate the power of a hat! A lot of grooms are opting to wear fashionable hats for some of their pictures, which adds height. And of course there are always inserts and thick soles to make men taller.
I will link an article that might help and some photos for inspiration.
In the end though, your fiancé obviously loves you and your height! So get some photos that use these tricks that mask your height difference, but also get some great pictures where you are standing tall and rocking that height, girl!! There is nothing that screams confidence like a tall woman standing proudly!

I would definitely bring up your concern to your photographer and then trust them to know the best poses and angles. They are the professional and have see it all. During photos, focus on relaxing and being in the moment with your new spouse, and the pictures will reflect your joy instead of your worries about how you each look in relation to to the other.

I love the tips and examples that Chrysta shared!! 😍 There's so many different ways you can play with seating, stairs, dips, and leans!

This picture from Chrissy Teigen & John Legend's wedding is gorgeous and uses the stairs well:
