Taller than the groom- heels or no?

Kelnesha Durrett, on April 28, 2018 at 12:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 45
So I'm about a half inch taller than my groom without shoes. debating on whether I should wear heels because with heels I'm way taller than him. he says he doesn't mind that. but I don't want to be towering over him. what should I do?

When u go on date nights or other events that require dressing up... do you wear heels?
if the answer is yes then wear heels.

also did you wear heels before getting with FH and never thought twice?
if so... chances are you aren’t with FH for his height and vice versa. And he didn’t STOP dating you because he felt anything nagative about being shorter(many men won’t date taller than them women)

It doesn't bother FH that we're the same height, it wouldn't bother him if I wore heels, but it does bother me so I always wear flats or really short heels. Part of it may also be because I'm also wider than him lol, we're the same height, if he actually stands up straight, and I weigh like 60 lbs more than him. If being taller than him in the pictures will bother you keep looking for flats, your shoes will be way less visible unless you have a tea length dress or something.

Good points. I didn't think about it that way. I used to wear heels regularly before dating him and I still wear them every now and then. I just didn't want him to be uncomfortable ya know. but he is adamant that he doesn't care and had no issue with the height difference. so I'll probably look for a heel that's a nice height that balances us.

Yea true. my dress is rather long so I know my shoes won't be seen. I'll probably look for a medium height and for some flats in case I change my mind

So this is the story of my life.... I'm 6,4 and love to wear heels. He's 6'5, and loves me in heels.... soooooo I'll be barefoot during our beach wedding, I'll have on heels at the entrance of the reception, and will have a pair of cute flats for when my heels expire (lol).
Do what makes you comfortable and I'm sure he's going to think you're beautiful either way.

Heels! I have a 2.5 inch heel I'm wearing and I am about three inches taller than him. I started either flats but they didn't make me feel my best self. And he isn't bothered, so I got what I wanted.

^started with flats. And I was going to treat myself so I found Jimmy Choo flats I liked but didn't love. When I decided to go for the heel, I decided to make those Jimmy as well 😂. But it is a shoe I can wear again, will probably take them on the honeymoon for nice dinners.

I have the same issue. We are exactly the same height. I made the decision to find cute flats just so I wouldnt be towering over him in all of our wedding photos when standing. I could just picture it in my mind with my updo and veil, our height difference would be significant. It's just a personal choice. I do wear heels as high as I wish at other times. I bought these cute Jimmy Choo's on clearance. Best wishes to you.

I don’t think it matters who’s taller. But I do think it’s nice to be as close to the same height as possible for pictures. My FH is a foot taller than me and I rarely wear heels. I didn’t notice until I was wearing heels at a family wedding how nice the photos came off. Usually headshots only fit my chin to his forehead since there’s so much space in between. It’s really nice having something of us closer together.
So my point is, you might like pictures better if you’re in flats, but you could always wear heels first if you prefer them.

If you are worried, maybe try two different types of shoes.. wear flata during the ceremony when you are both standing close and then wear heels during the reception where it wouldn’t be as noticable.. however as someone stated above, if you wore heels before you met him then wear them now! I say wear what makes you feel most like yourself!
