Taller than the groom- heels or no?

Kelnesha Durrett, on April 28, 2018 at 12:47 PM

so I'm about a half inch taller than my groom without shoes. debating on whether I should wear heels because with heels I'm way taller than him. he says he doesn't mind that. but I don't want to be towering over him. what should I do?

We are about the same height as well so was debating the same thing but since I usually wear flats and its a beach wedding probably should stick with those and would be best to do whichever feels most comfy to you

I don't have this problem because FH is taller than me but personally I feel more confident when I where heels and it definitely shows on my face. I'd want to where at least a low heel to boost my self confidence. If you're happy in flats, go for it but if you do wear heels, talk to your photographer about your worries. They can play with your positioning so that it's not as obvious in some pictures

I think it depends on the dress. Can you see the shoes in your dress? If not, then I recommend the flats if that’ll make you feel more comfortable. But if you can see your shoes, I say go with what looks nice. Just don’t forget to keep good posture. Im tall too and when I dated shorter guys, I could tell that I would hunch over a bit in pictures.

I'm wearing lace flats that I ordered from Amazon cause I'm 5'9" and my fiance is 6'1" and I don't want to be a smidge shorter or the same height

Some cute flats with bling or some glam sandals would be fine too.

Your heights have nothing to do with anything! Why does the guy have to be taller? Maybe because my grandma was significantly taller than my grandpa I never thought anything about height differences in couples but it’s very superficial. Just buy the shoes you like whether or not they have a heel.

If I wear 5” heels(which I do own) I am same height as FH. While I have worn them, I am on the opposite thought side of being close in height for photos.
I myself prefer to be shorter. The pics of looking up at man, Resting head on shoulders or biceps, man picking woman up, standing in front of him with his arms wrapped, piggy back photos...

i bought a low 2.5” heel that felt comfy but still offered me height and that “elegant feeling” of heels. And they are multi tropical colored so I can wear them a lot

I have the same issue. FH is only an inch taller than me. My mom is adamant about me wearing flats. But if I wear flats and not at least a 3inch heel my dress drags too much. I’d rather not get it hemmed, it is perfect with 3 inch heels. FH doesn’t care, but my mom is freaking out. Ugh.

I had the same question a while back - and got many similar replies... wear them... it doesn’t matter ... made me feel shallow for even asking... but the point to me wasn’t how comfortable I am w my height or FH’s, it was about how I wanted to look in and see myself in our wedding photos for the rest of forever... I’ve always struggled w my weight and size and being a smidge taller partnered w that insecurity - I was afraid in heels I would look like an Amazon (in my own brain) and hate our wedding photos ... that all said I have purchased a pair of very short kitten heels and am going to buy a pair of flats ... probably Teiks... when the dress arrives I’ll try it on with both before I make a final decision at alterations, truth be told if your dress is floorlength your shoes will play very little role but there still something about feeling pretty and sexy and sassy and romantic that even a short kitten heels gives me that flats won’t... so if I don’t feel like I’ll look like an Amazon I’ll probably side w the kitten heel. At least until my feet hurt... than flats it is!!!
