Tan lines and off the shoulder dresses

Kaye, on January 23, 2018 at 1:56 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

I don't have tan lines yet thanks to the season. However, I will be marrying in October in SC in an off the shoulder dress. What did you all do regarding tan lines? Did you just slather on sunscreen every single day? I'm not one to lay out to tan, but I certainly get a farmer's tan hiking and running around with the dogs. I'm hoping to find a suit that doesn't have straps so that I can sit out enough and not look like Casper on the big day.

I'd definitely plan on wearing a strapless if you are ever out for a long period of time. I'd then put on sunscreen if you're running with the dogs a lot.

I have a few strapless suits to wear this summer, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to go airbrush spray tanning. I've never done airbrush, only regular spray tanning booths, but the salon where I am doing HMU has airbrush services that I'll try out ahead of time and touch up before the wedding day.

I get really hilariously amazing tan lines in the summer from running, hiking, mowing the lawn etc.

Besides slathering sunscreen, I try to switch up the straps of my bras and tanks as often as possible. I had a really great racer back tan line from the summer through christmas before our wedding, and took forever to go away.

Consider comfy long sleeve options as well, while hot you can find moisture wicking long sleeve options. Strapless dresses, and big-ass wide brimmed hats also work.

Sunscreen or lightweight long sleeved shirts if you're going to be out long enough for the sunscreen to wear off. Because I never remember to reapply it. It sounds like it will be hot, but it's actually more comfortable. Look for synthetic, quick drying, active wear material.

I got married in Sept in a strapless dress and spend most of my time outside of work running, hiking, or walking my dog. What I did was:

    - invest in 1-2 long sleeve shirts with sunscreen (SPF 60+) embedded in the fabric. Wear them often. When you aren't wearing them make sure to switch up the strap/necklines of the types of shirts you are wearing. It's easier to hide and get rid of moderate, faint lines, than prominent lines from wearing the same type of shirt.

-I never left the house without SPF 60 sunscreen on. I would reapply frequently if I was outside

-I had a strapless swim suit top and tried to spend moderate amounts of time outside in it to continually counter any tan lines from being active outside.

    - Hats with big brims to shade my neck/shoulder area.

    - seek shade constantly!

Thanks for help! Guess I will go ahead and order my long sleeve tee shirts and stock up on the sunscreen.

I had very obvious tan lines back in September when I was in my friend's wedding. For whatever reason I picked a strapless dress, but in the summertime I have a tendency to wear racerback sports bras and tank tops. And of course my wedding dress is strapless. I plan on slathering on sunscreen this summer!

I have a question about your off the shoulder dress - do you have any issues lifting your arms?
