Tanning before wedding - Pictures?

Lindsey, on December 29, 2020 at 10:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
I have very fair skin and I feel a lot more confident when I’m tan, I NEED to be tan on my wedding day lol.. It’s near impossible for me to get a natural tan so I self tan a lot at home. I do a pretty decent job but I don’t know if I want the pressure of tanning myself before my wedding. I’ve never gotten a spray tan before and I kind of have a negative view of them being orange and splotchy. I’ve also seen on here some people saying to not get a spray tan for your wedding.. Anyone have opinions or advice on this? Or if you’re already married and you did get a spray tan beforehand I would love to see pictures!

I didn’t spray tan for my wedding, but I have several times in the past. I would definitely recommend going to see someone who sprays you by hand instead of using the machines at the tanning salon. They will customize the color to fit your complexion and make sure that it’s applied evenly.

If you insist on getting a tan then I would recommend spray tanning over sun bathing or the tanning bed

I totally agree with Caytlyn- definitely get hand sprayed! I am also very fair complected (The tan struggle is real!) and have tried both tanning methods (hand spray tan and machine spray tan). The machine turned me streaky and orange! It was awful. I always get a good, natural-looking result when being hand sprayed though. I will attach a side-by-side picture of me normally and after being hand sprayed as a bridesmaid. I will say though, spray tans do not last long on my fair skin. I would suggest getting sprayed the day before your wedding. If there are any small imperfections after showering the morning of the wedding, your make up artist should be able to fix them.

Oh, and I’d also suggest getting sprayed in the nude. I wore a strapless swimsuit when I got sprayed in this picture, and you can obviously see where the suit was. (it didn’t help that my dress was too big and kept falling down either 🤦🏼‍♀️)

I've never gotten a tan, but my advice would be that if you want to get a spray tan ask your friends where they would recommend and go there and have it done as a trial to see if you like how it turns out. If not then you will know not to go there again.

I second this. Definitely do a trial several months before your wedding!

Thank you everyone! I’ll definitely plan to do a trial beforehand to see how I feel about it

Yes get hand sprayed! Ask for a light glow (or something light, whatever they offer). I did an express spray tan (a light one) 2 days before my brother’s wedding and it looked very natural on the day of. I definitely recommend getting it done 2 days before your wedding. It looks so orange a few hours after getting it done LOL, but it evens out after getting rinsed off. If you are worried you should definitely go do a trial run first!

Fellow fair skinned bride here!! 😋 I did a spray by hand for our engagement photos (first one) and tanning bed/laid out in backyard for our wedding (second photo). For me, I noticed streaking in my engagement photos so switched the other route for the wedding. Hopefully these comparisons will help with your decision - good luck!!! ❤️
