Target or Bed Bath Beyond registry?

Anna, on December 2, 2018 at 9:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
I’m sure there are already a bunch of discussions out there, but as technology and policies update, hoping to get up to date opinions.

If you had to choose between target and BBB, which would it be and why? I’m trying to think in terms of customer convenience and registry set up. Someone on here mentioned that you can actually add items onto your registry by doing it through the BBB app by scanning the item. I think that’s so cool, but curious if target does the same?

also trying to think in fairness price wise... if someone chooses to kindly purchase a gift through the registry, I would want price and efficiency to be decent for them. I’ve done BBB and never had any problems, but know they can be pricey.

What would you choose? Suggestions/comments!

We did Bed Bath and Beyond as one of ours because I wanted quality kitchen appliances that would last. I think sometimes Target things can be a bit cheap which is fine if I’m purchasing but for wedding gifts I wanted nicer stuff. Bed bath and beyond always has 20 percent off coupons as well.

We did bed bath and beyond and have no complaints. Something to keep in mind is that BBB always has a 20% off one item coupon, which an help your guests. Our main reason for choosing BBB was because we already lived together, so we were looking for nicer upgrades rather than a starter set.

Thank you, Kelly! I just got a 20% coupon too. You make a good point about quality, I see that issue with Target sometimes as well.

Thanks Brittney! We’re in a similar boat and need good upgrades. All of our kitchen ware, bedding, ect are from Walmart when I moved out on my own before FH moving in with me. So needless to say a new cooking pan or two would be super nice lol

I don’t have experience with Target, but I have loved our BBB registry. I’ve gotten about 50 things off of it so far after my shower, and only had to return one thing because of quality. And it was a cheap desk lamp, so I kind of figured it may be a problem. While they are more expensive, the quality is good and there’s always coupons like someone else mentioned.

I have no experience with the BBB registry because we chose to have a very small Amazon registry. However, I did love the way Target's registry is set up online. It basically walks you through each department. I highly recommend looking at it even if you choose to register elsewhere. It gave us some great ideas of what to register for when we didn't need things like upgrades or a stand mixer.

We have registries at both stores and Target does the same scanning thing that BBB has on the app, which is super useful when you’re wandering around the store. I ended up swapping a lot of the items that were sold at BBB and Target to the Target registry because it was less expensive there, but BBB does offer the 20% off coupons. Something I did hear from a friend from their experience was that if you get duplicates of an item or just decide to return something, they assume the item was purchased with the 20% off coupon so you only receive back 80% of the item’s price.

Thank you for all the helpful insights! That’s interesting to know about the assumption of using 20%.

I went to BBB about a year ago to buy a bridal
shower gift and I swore I was never going back. Why so much stuff? Why is it so crowded? Everyone I’ve been to. No thanks lol

Thanks for weighing in, Amber! That must be a regional things or seasonality. By me the Targets are always crowded. Parking lot is a death trap and takes several minutes to get in and out of. But it’s Target and I can’t hate it haha .

I personally just love Target much more than BBB so we did Target. I agree that sometimes the quality of Target stuff is not so good, so we did our "good" stuff at Crate & Barrel and then our Target registry has some cheaper items (and more expensive, like a vacuum) for guests whos budget fits that better. At Target we did kitchen towels, spatulas, a clothes steamer, oven mits, etc. and then our Crate & Barrel has plates, pots/pans, silverware, etc.
