Tattoo cover up

Rebecca, on August 11, 2020 at 3:41 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14
I have a half sleeve that goes on to my shoulder blade. I love it, however I'd like to cover it for the wedding. I hope to find a dress with sleeves but they will likely be lace so some will show through. Has anyone had any luck covering their tattoo without makeup smearing on your dress? What did you use? Thanks so much!

May I ask why you want to cover it?
As for actual covering it; your best bet is a dress with sleeves. Makeup will eventually smear onto the dress.

I went to Sephora and they did a sample cover up on my tattoo. And it didn’t get onto my clothes or anything but I can’t remember exactly what it is they used. But I will say that it took a lot of layers. So my suggestion is perhaps go to a make up store or obviously because of Covid that might not be possible so maybe try to get advice from a make up artist or someone you know but the only thing I’ve heard of that’s good is derma blend

Can you purchase a sleeved undergarment to cover it? I do that or use a giant bandaid - LOL
I have not had luck with makeup

Smart! This is why I asked here, people like yourself are far more inventive than myself!

I love lace sleeved dresses but the tattoo still shows through a bit and I worried that it'd just look like I had a skin condition through the lace. Lol.

My grandmother-in-law to-be is very against tattoos so partially out of respect for her but mostly because I don't like the look of it under the lace sleeves of the dresses I've tried on. It shows through just enough to detract attention from the dress so I'm hoping to get a little bit more coverage over it!

I have something like these (not lace) but in a nude color - I’ve had them for so many years that I’d be lying to say where I bought them

My makeup artist is able to cover mine with many, many layers of airbrush foundation and then a setting spray on top. At my trial she covered part of it to see what it would take and it nothing rubbed off onto my white shirt for the rest of the day.

If you must cover it, get solid fabric sleeves instead of lace. Many designers do make these or you can have a seamstress add them as part of the alterations process instead of going the makeup route.

I agree. I would look for a dress with solid sleeves rather than lace if you really want to cover it up. Frankly, I wouldn't let someone else dictate what you wear, but that's just me.

You can get seamstress to add a nude tone to your dress, so you don’t have to worry about make up smudging through your dress.
It would allow your dress design to show through and one less worry.
