Tattooed brides in long sleeves

Rachel, on August 22, 2020 at 6:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Can a tattooed bride still look beautiful in a long sleeved dress? I’m asking because while the majority of the dresses I have pegged are short sleeved, there are still a couple of dresses that I love that have long sleeves. I know that it’s up to the bride in terms of what dress she feels the most beautiful in, but I have been told that I should 100% show my tattoos (which I’m okay with) and not cover them with anything. But if I end up choosing a long sleeved dress, I hope I don’t hear too much feedback for my decision. For example, those who have been following my dress posts, one of the very first dresses I loved was the Hayley by Hayley Paige. I always thought that dress looked so elegant and sophisticated. Are the any other tattooed brides out there wearing long sleeved gowns?

If you want a long sleeve dress, I say go for it! There's no rule saying you have to show your tattoos (just as there's no rule saying you have to cover them). Go try on the dresses you think you'll like, and pick the one that you feel the best in! People will typically have their opinions regardless of what you choose to do. Your opinion and your fiance's opinion are the only ones that matter.

100% wear whatever dress you feel comfortable and beautiful in!! That’s funny that people have been telling you to show your tattoos... pretty much all my girlfriends who are heavily tattooed have always heard the opposite LOL I have a half sleeve on one arm & a full sleeve tattoo on the other. I didn’t even consider my tattoos when choosing a dress- I just went shopping with the intention of choosing whatever I felt comfortable and beautiful in, regardless of whether it was sleeveless, short sleeve, or long sleeve. In the end, I chose a long sleeve dress.

My dress has long sleeves, and I have full sleeves of tattoos. That being said: my sleeves are solid satin - not see-through at all. I found while trying on dresses that my tattoos looked messy and my arms looked too busy. I found that I either wanted my tattoos totally visible, or totally covered - but lace over them just looked messy.

That’s exactly what I think will happen. I have full sleeves on both arms and I think a Lacey long sleeved dress just won’t work, but that’s okay! I think I’ll end up going strapless 😊😊😊

I'm wearing short sleeves, but no tattoos on my arms (although my other tattoos will show). I say...your wedding, your decision. Wear what you love.

Take a look at offbeatbride.com where 90% are tattooed. Wear whatever you're comfortable in. Your tattoos are part of you so unless you would wear a long sleeve dress anyway, don't feel obligated to hide them.

I thought I wanted a long sleeve wedding dress. Most of the ones I tried on were tulle with lace overlay. I didn’t like how I could see bits and pieces of my tattoo through the sleeves. It felt odd, I either wanted my tattoos to fully show, or be fully covered.

I would try them on to see how you feel about it! I think it can look gorgeous but if you have the artwork on your body, I agree 100% to show them off Smiley smile

The angle isn’t the best but you can see how the illusion fabric looks over my tattoo.
If you want sleeves but also to show off your art, maybe this type of fabric would be worth looking at?
