tattooed rings before ceremony?

MrsMem<3, on October 20, 2015 at 10:24 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

So FH and I want to have our rings tattooed. He is in a profession where he can not have one and i love tattoos and my ering will cover it for work purposes. Well i want to have our tattoos done a week or two before so they are healed and beautiful for pictures on our special day but then again i feel as if getting them before we are actually married is kind of cheating? thoughts?

This is what we are doing.

Mr & Mrs on the top of our fingers and our date underneath

I was a little superstitious before my wedding. I didn't put my wedding ring on my ring finger. But other than for silly reasons I don't see why you couldn't Smiley smile

I have heard that these tattoos tend to wear off faster, maybe others can comment on that.

I wouldn't do it. I am not really superstitious but I do think it is kind of cheating. I wouldn't wear my wedding band before it was put on my finger during the ceremony.

We're not getting ring tattoos but my then-fiancé did (and still does) want matching tattoos. I'm a big fan of waiting until after the wedding, I feel it's cheating to get them before. Heck, I'm so good at waiting that it's two months later and we still don't have matching tattoos.

I would wait personally. My sil got a matching tattoo with her husband of the wedding date and even had it written as a "fact" on the program. I thought it was a little odd and I personally think it would be bad luck to do it before hand. I mean plenty of people think getting the names is bad luck. Even though I suppose I am superstitious lol

It depends on whether (1) you feel like the tattoos will be the actual symbol of your wedding, as opposed to the wedding bands you'll exchange during the ceremony, and (2) whether you want those tattoos in your wedding pics. If you want them as part of the professional pictures, then get them done beforehand. If you and your FH will see those tattoos as your actual "wedding band", then definitely wait.

Some friends of mine got a lock and key tattooed before their wedding (a lock on her finger, the key on his), and I think it would be fine, unless you're super superstitious...

Either get it 2 weeks before or right after....keep in mind, ALL finger tattoos fade and need constant touch ups. and trust me (owner of a tattoo shop here), they will fade and in most shops the first touch up is free but you will end up paying for further touch ups later on. it can be a huge pain in the ass. we recommend if you're going to get them, also get another meaningful piece elswhere that wont require as much maintenance. also, the tattoos on the top of the finger will last a bit longer than the one under the finger...the one under is going to need a looooot of touch ups

I know this is probably very rare, but what if something happened where you had to move the wedding... a family member passed away, bad weather, extreme sickness for bride or groom. Like I said very RARE but it could affect the date of your wedding and the tattoo would be wrong. If you do it after, you know you're married on that date Smiley smile

We're getting these...Will probably end up getting it before the wedding. I wouldn't do the date, just because that could change, but I don't see anything wrong with getting matching tattoos.

I don't see anything wrong in getting them before hand but, I would wait on the date. If you really want the date do that after the wedding so that you have the actual date just in case of a rare thing happening like a few of the other girls mentioned.

Well we are not getting wedding bands at all we are using ring pops at the ceremony. We also intend on getting other tattoos to represent each other besides on our finger. I would like them to be in our pictures yes. But since mine will say Mrs i wont technically be a Mrs yet when get it done..
