So I have a decent sized tattoo on my right shoulder, it's a gorgeous tattoo, it means so much because it's a memorial tattoo I got in memory of my grandfather who passed away in 2014. Anyway, I have a strapless gown and would like to wear my hair up if not in a half up-half down style. I was wondering if anyone else was thinking of covering up their tattoos for the wedding and such? If you are what are you using to do it? I'm still undecided because as much as I adore my tattoo, I like the idea of covering it up so that I can have the clean looking back.

I did not cover my tattoo and have no regrets. It's totally a personal decision for you. If you decide to leave it, wear it with pride, it's a meaningful part of you. If you decide to cover it, don't feel bad about it, maybe you don't want the focus on that for one day. Either way, totally your choice & no shame in either decision.

I have two large tattoos. I plan on having a veil to cover it up for the ceremony. Then taking it off for the reception.

I’m in the proudly display crowd! My tattoos are beautiful art, and I don’t hide them. If anyone at our wedding wants to judge me for having tattoos then I don’t want them there!
I don’t have my memorial pieces done yet, if I did those would be the least likely to be covered up. But all of mine will be on display, I made sure the dress I chose would not cover them.

I know I wouldn’t be covering up my tattoo that I have on my shoulder because I love tattoos and I would like to show mine off, even at my wedding

I said it and it was my preference and what I thought... we all could agree to disagree just like we like what we like ... however I will not change the way I feel bc of opinions ... she asked and I commented I’m covering mine and so would my bridesmaids. I don’t want them showing in my pics 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have five, spread shoulder to shoulder on my back. (Pulled together to sorta look like one.)
i have no intention of covering them-they’re all there for a reason. My hair might cover the middle one and edges of the next ones, but that entirely incidental. If I didn’t want them to show sometimes, I wouldn’t have gotten them. I really don’t get covering them up for your wedding.

I get what your saying. But someone showing it does not make it tacky. It is your preference to have tats covered it is our preference to show them. No one is right or wrong or tacky.

Right thts what I said its your preference, I just have a different view on it ... I wasn’t looking for anyone to agree with me, we are all different in our own lil way. What you may like I may not and vice versa ...My bridesmaid they are okay with it and they seem to agree as well .. I only show them when on a beach or going out but I don’t even show them at work...

so it’s just my preference and how I feel about it on MY BIG DAY ...,... bridezilla in full effect lol

Yeah you right it could have been worded differently (I’m sorry) it wasn’t intentional but what matters is that we all look beautiful on our big day ... 😘

I have plenty of tattoos. They are apart of me and I'm not covering it up. Why pretend you dont have something? My fiancee has a ton as well. We are celebrating us. If others dont like it then that's on them

Covering because you don't want it for your particular look.

Re: Freckles, some folks cover when they want and don't when they don't want.

I don't the " why would you want to " question

Agreed. Tacky is not the best word.

I have tattoos and i'm covering because that's what I want for my look. I don't understand how anyone else can not understand that. I don't care what anyone else does with their tattoos on that day.

Okay but people don’t choose whether or not they get freckles lol. Totally not the same. I chose (and paid hundreds of dollars) to get tattoos. I knew when I got them that there would be events in my life such as weddings, graduations, children’s birthday parties, etc. I wouldn’t add something to my body permanently (and in places that can be seen) if I was ashamed to show them at such events.

It is the same. it's something visible that a person decides they want covered (something people do all the time).

It's just like covering a birthmark or beauty mark.

And covering has nothing to do with shame, you're being extremely judgmental.

I think the assumption is that folks do this for other people instead of realizing that a bride may choose to do this for her and her alone.

I mean hey, if you want to do this for yourself go for it! It's your day. My tattoos ended up making some of our pictures special because I have a tattoo of my wife's handwriting. But it's all about what makes you comfortable. Not what other people say
