I knew from the start I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a veil, because I'm only wearing for the ceremony and a couple pictures, and I'm on a tight budget! I knew from the start I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a veil, because I'm only wearing for the ceremony and a couple pictures, and I'm on a tight budget! I found one on Amazon that was $15 and worked well with my dress. The problem was that even though I ordered an "ivory" color, it was basically bright white, and my gown is a champagne/beige shade. After watched a few Youtube videos about tea dying veils, I decided to give it a try and figured if it didn't work, being out $15 wasn't the end of the world. It totally worked! The pictures don't capture the shade variance in the before and after well, but it's perfect. My mom and I checked it out with my dress last night, and it's the exactly perfect shade. If anyone wants to try it, I can give you the step-by-step that I did, but seriously, I am so excited with how perfectly it turned out! Yay for budget hacks that work!!

Thank you soooo much for posting this! I bought a cheap but nice white veil off of wish to test out and i decided not to wear it. Now I can darken it to wear with my champagne/gold dress!

It looks fantastic!! Love it! I always "set" my final color with white vinegar in the final rinse, just to be safe. Let soak about 5-10 minutes.

That’s great! You saved yourself a good chunk of money and honestly I feel that’s the way to go, especially if you’re just wearing the veil for a little bit. I learned about tea dying and even coffee dying when the seamstress that was making a dress for me years ago was also working on a bride’s veil that needed to be ivory but the appliqués they found were white. I was so shocked that ever since I’ve shared the secret with every person wanting to change something from white to ivory...

Yes! It's so hard to find the right shade of beige/champagne/ivory! Hope it works out for you!

Will the new stained color rinse off if it gets wet?

Do you think there is a risk of it bleeding on your wedding dress? Especially if it was hot and humid? What specific tea bags did you use? What brand?
