Tea length vs floor length. Help!

Emily, on January 7, 2019 at 10:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
Hi!

i always pictures myself in a long wedding dress. But yesterday I fell in love with a longer tea length dress, hits at about my ankles, maybe a little higher. Do you think tea length dresses are formal enough? My wedding is pretty formal. I love this dress but want to make sure it’s not too casual

I don’t think tea length dresses are formal.

I'm not really a fan of tea lengths, but it's your wedding, I would say maybe try on other dresses somewhere else and see if you have that feeling, if you don't, get your tea length dress that you love ❤😘

I think they are more on the casual side. What is it about the dress that you like? If it is the fit? If so you may be able to find something similar in a floor length dress. That being said, if you truly love this dress, don't let the formality of the wedding talk you out of it. You may be able to make it look more formal with accessories or if there is room in the budget you could wear it as your reception dress and wear something more formal during the ceremony.

If you're going for a formal event, then no, tea length wont be the right fit.

If you are having a brunch, casual wedding, it would be perfect. What about making the tea length a second dress if you have the budget to do so?

Tea-length dresses are generally not considered formal attire. Since you said your wedding is "pretty formal" you should go for the floor length.

Tea-length is not formal, it would be 'semi-formal. or casual.' But that doesn't make it lovely. I'm doing a tea-length dress that (I think) is stunning. Also, you don't have to conform to formality expectations. If you want a formal affair, dress up the tea-length with a more detailed veil or accessories. Great thing about your wedding; you choose your own standards!
