Tealight candles vs flameless tealights?

Future Mrs. Bowman, on April 28, 2011 at 1:22 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

I have a vision.I am thinking tons of candles as far as my venue decorations are cocerned but am wondering if perhaps flameless tealights would be a better option (and a less heated one) A big concern is the flameless candles i think cast more of an orange glow...Any one have any opinions on this?

I don't personally like flameless candles at all. They look like a bad substitute to me and I'd never use them. I love candles in general and so I'd go with tealight but please make sure they are secure. It freaks me out when there are candles at the wedding that don't look safe and there is a bride with her beautiful dress and veil...

I think if you're having them in a candle holder that's frosted or something the flameless one's would be good, but if you are having clear one's i think that the normal candles would look better

Are you putting them in something? If they are in a votive you can't really tell the difference, but sitting by themselves they look fake.

I might use them under purple acrylic ice, but the rest of my candles will be real and unscented.

My future MIL had gotten some flameless ones as a gift and not only do they look fake, but the flame is more of an orange glow. I will be using real candles. Personally, I would only use the fake ones if the venue said no candles allowed.

@Keatha, you stated you might put them under some acrylic ice... have you seen and consider those little bright LED lights they have out? You just turn them on and put them under the acrylic ice/little diamonds and it looks very nice. And since it is made for that and is an LED light, it glows white instead of the orange that the fake candles give so it's brighter and prettier. Just a thought for you if you were wanting to do something like that. They run off of batteries and very easy to hide, I think they run for 8+ hours too.

For anyone interested in those LED lights I was talking about - here is the link:

    http://www.koyalwholesale.com/pages-productinfo-category-285-product-13076/floralytes_and_lightssubmersible_floralyte_iii_w_on_off_button_and_three_light_settings_new_10_colors.html

It has 3 different settings - solid light, flicking candlelight and blinking which I didn't know so that just makes it cooler =)

At the bottom of the page is a video so you can actually see how bright they are and what they will look under acrylic ice/diamonds or those new water ball thingies as well as in a candle holder. They show you what each setting would like in the light and also with the lights off. They also come in 10 colors.
