Teeny Tiny RSVP envelopes...to use or not to use?

Marisa, on August 16, 2011 at 10:37 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

I have this dilemma...I made my invitations, and I thought I had a great idea when I made the RSVP cards small enough to fit in a pocket inside the invitation. The envelopes are 2.5" x 3.5", and I had to order those online from envelopes.com. When I took the entire thing to the post office to find out how much postage to put on the tiny envelopes, the gentleman told me some of them might get lost due to how small they are. Now I'm a little concerned. Is anyone using envelopes this small? If so, are you having trouble receiving them back in the mail? Are they getting lost?

The smallest envelope the usps will allow is 3.5 x 5 (for normal postage and to avoid being lost)

so, look for 4 bar envelopes

I was told the same thing by the post office that Hayley just posted. Paper source IMO can get expensive. I got my RSVP envelopes from Cards and Pockets.

Thanks to both of you. I think I will rest easier knowing my RSVPs won't get lost in the mail. Smiley smile Unfortunately I don't have time to order online without paying too much for shipping to get the envelopes here as fast as possible, so I have purchased Thank-yous that come with 4 bar envelopes. Don't know what I'm going to do with all the thank-you notes without envelopes though...lol

I got my RSVP cards from Cards and Pockets and they meet the minimum but it's taking a long time for the RSVPs to get back to me and some of them are rather mangled. I'd strongly recommend going above the minimum requirement by USPS.
