Teeth Whitening

CourtneyBrittain, on April 13, 2019 at 10:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 21
Help! I am wanting to whiten my teeth for my October wedding and am open to hearing your suggestions. I am not wanting to spend much money on it as my budget is already limited, so ideally if you know of any “home remedies” that are tried and true that would be best.
I know there’s no overnight trick to it, but that’s why I’m asking 6 months in advance. TIA!

Crest White Strips! Those work well and there’s a “sensitive” one if needed. Be careful of the solutions from dentists. My hubby did a treatment at the dentist before his first wedding and said that caused his teeth to become brittle and his front tooth chipped off during his honeymoon! 🥺

Also try to charcoal toothpaste. My bridesmaid bought me a tube and it works. My teeth are bad don’t have much enamel so I was afraid to use the white strips but I’m sure those work too. The charcoal toothpaste really does brighten your teeth. I think she got it at Walmart for a couple bucks.

I use the crest white strips for special occasions, but I just use them every two days starting a week before instead of every day because they can get painful. They work super well. I also brush with crest radiant whitening toothpaste and I’ve gotten compliments from ppl who think it’s professional lol

The one I got actually doesn’t taste too bad. I think the brand is called invitamin. But it’s got a soft minty taste to it and feels kind of inky in your mouth. I use my regular toothpaste after just to make sure I get all the black off and I’m not sure how well it actually protects your teeth from cavities and what not. But the taste really isn’t offensive or anything that you’ll want to spit out right away.

FH just went to walmart and bought a $20 pack. Toothbrush with whitening strip and toothpaste that has hydrogen peroxide and i think baking soda. Or just use good old baking soda plain on the toothbrush! I used to do it, tastes bad but works good. I just didnt brush enough!

You're welcome! I'd be curious to know if anyone else had that issue from the dentist's process.

I second the charcoal toothpaste. I get the Hello brand that you can find at Walmart and it doesnt taste like anything. I like it because it brightens your teeth but doesnt have that awful minty taste.

Crest white strips! Be careful of the charcoal toothpaste. It can be too abrasive for people and take the enamel off your teeth.

As a Dental Hygienist, I recommend Crest Whitening Strips for over the counter. Both baking soda and charcoal can be abrasive on the teeth's enamel but I do work. If you choose, to use them use it very sparingly. Peroxide also works, and is the active ingredient in most whitening products. I personally rinse with peroxide occasionally, it can burn your gums if used too much.

If you would like to do a in-office dental procedure. Talk to dentist about whether your enamel and gums can handle it. Whitening can cause EXTREME sensitivity and chemical burns if not applied properly or for too long.

I haven't heard of it causing chipping, there may have been underlying issue with that situation.

Use this toothpaste and it REALLY makes a difference! Yes you have to wash your teeth twice but it feels therapeutic and your teeth feel dentist clean while you’re whiting! 😁
