I want to echo PPs in saying that I LOVE this thread! FH and I have gone to the same church our whole lives and have similar backgrounds. He is 8 years older than me, and I have had a crush on him since I can remember. (My mother even knew we were supposed to be together—she told me when I was 13 that she thought he was the one for me! Given the age difference, I always thought he would think of me as a little girl. Every time we talked at church, I was over the moon. Little did I know, he and his family had been talking and thinking about me for a long time as well! When I was 20 and about to return to college, he got my number from a friend and called; he asked if he could see me before I left. I felt such incredible joy, and it’s been a fairy tale ever since! 🙈💕 Fast forward 3 years, and I cannot wait until our wedding on June 9, 2018!!

We met on Plenty of Fish in March of 2014. Went out and really clicked, fell in love and moved in together, adopted a dog, and then things fell apart. We were split up for a year and a half but periodically texted to see how the other was doing and I regularly checked on the dog as he got him when we split. In May of 2016 he asked me how his outfit looked for his sister's wedding and we started talking again non-stop. The last week of May and the first week of June were crazy and he helped me deal with my sister losing custody of her kids and getting evicted which is when I knew I couldn't let him go again. Then a week after we started dating, my ex boyfriend passed away. I never knew how devastating that could be even though we had been split up for some time and my fiance was there for me through it all. Now we've been together almost two years (and have lived together most of that time lol) and we have five dogs. This man is the most selfless, giving, thoughtful and romantic person I've ever met and I'm so glad we got a second shot!

😊 Your story is sweet. Congratulations 🎉

My parents were teenagers when they met, married, and had me. I saw how hard my mom worked, and cared for me, and my brothers that I will never think harshly about a teen mom. It's tough at any age.

My love story is, well, strange. I actually "knew" my MIL and SIL before meeting my H, 😂 because of my work. I met my H on a online chat in 2011. We decided after a few weeks to watch a movie together since we noticed we both lived in the same city. We were instant friends. A few months later I realized I knew his mom and younger sister when I went over for a BBQ 😂

We didn't define our relationship, and always said we were just friends when people asked, or said we were just having fun, enjoying each other's company. We said that for, oh around 3 years. 😂 Then around December 2014, I wanted more, and he didn't. I stopped contact with him. He never stopped trying to see how I was, and after 3 months I started talking to him again. He told me he didn't realize he loved me until I wanted nothing to do with him, and he missed my loud annoying laugh.

In April 2015 we became official. When we told our moms and siblings, and our close friend, they were all like "duh, y'all been together for years, and didn't realize it." In July 2015 I asked him if he wanted to get married in 2 years, he said yes 😊❤️

We set the date for October 7th, 2017, and had an amazing wedding day.

    I love this thread!

I've been married before, and my FH and his ex-gf were friends with exH and me. We used to get together for tabletop RPGs and cooking together and such. FH and his ex split up about a year before exH and I did. When I needed to move out of exH's condo on VERY short notice, FH showed up to help me move and we talked about breaking up and recovering for awhile, then moved on to talking about video games and other things, and talked long into the night.

I knew it was too soon to start anything, but we were closer friends after that and I realized pretty quickly that feelings were developing on my part. Once some time had passed after the breakup, we were playing a video game with him sitting on the couch and me on the floor and I just curled up for a snuggle against his legs. After the game, he wanted to talk and figure out if something was developing between us and if I was ready to start dating again.

We went on a date, and started to realize that there was real chemistry between us. Once we started dating, things moved fairly quickly and I moved in with him less than 6 months later, when I realized I was driving 30 miles to spend the night at his place 4 days a week. We got engaged ~18 months after we started dating and have been engaged for ~18 months now. Smiley smile

I know exactly how you feel. The planning process is overwhelming and my FH has been supportive and buys me little gifts spontaneously just because he wants to Smiley smile we met online, started talking then a few days later we had our first date. We did stop talking for a few months then reconnected and been together ever since. We are getting married on the day of our 1st date! Smiley heart

Mine isn’t super cute but here we go: So back in high school (2013) I see this this super cute guy has mutual friends on Facebook with me - so of course I add him. I see he just broke up with this girl he had dated for a while so I figured he wouldn’t be ready to talk to anyone so I just let it be. Fast forward to 6 months later, I see his name pop up again and notice he’s posting more...so I started liking his stuff so he would notice me. I did this for a month and kind of gave up until I see this message while I’m at work “do I know you”. Of course I’m thinking act cool Briana, don’t ruin this. So long story short I got his number that day and we talked ALL THE TIME, non stop. We did this for about two months when I finally went on a date with him (and his friends - long story) and it was so much fun. He gave me a hug at the end of that eventful date and I knew he was something special. A few weeks later he finally asked me out (I seriously thought he was never going to) and we’ve been sharing memories and adventures for 5 crazy years. He is my best friend and I don’t know what I would do with out him. We are so much alike it’s ridiculous! We are constantly laughing together.

One neat thing is we have done it all traditional (not intentional) so we still live at home with family until the wedding. - we had planned to move out when he graduated college this last December but figured it would be smarter to wait and save money. Overall I can’t wai till Septermber!!

We met thousands of miles away in Las Vegas. I was from NJ, he was from Pittsburgh. I was at a work convention and one of my girlfriends flew out for the weekend. We went to the Four Queens and met him at a roulette table. My friend and I left to go grab dinner but luckily didn't find anything. We walked back towards the casino and passed my now fiance and his buddy who said they were on their way to dinner so we invited ourselves along with them. We stayed out until 4 am that night gambling and dancing on Fremont St.

2 1/2 years later I sold my house in NJ and moved out to Pittsburgh into the house we bought together. 1 1/2 years after that, 4 years to the day since we met in Vegas, he proposed, and we'll be getting married this October.

First day of class in 7th grade. I was new to the school. I sat down next to FH. He asked to borrow a pencil, I said no. Lol. Then I threw it at him and it accidently hit him in the head. We started dating that year at 13. We will be getting married in May at 25 years oldSmiley smile Smiley heart

We both took college classes in high school at our local community college, I was a junior, he was a senior. At the time I had no interest in finding anyone, as I had just found out the person I was talking to and hanging out with for three months had a girlfriend. We had a mutual friend who was in the same class as us, so we ended up sitting together. We never really talked until we both didn’t do our homework one day and our prof made us leave, so we talked the whole way out to our cars. At that moment I knew we could be something, and he will say the same thing now. We talked on Facebook for a while until he asked for my number. He put a handwritten note, nail polish, and some lipstick on my car asking if I’d go on a date with him on March 23, and then be his prom date. We went on the date, and he asked me out in the truck after I slept the whole way home (still guilty of sleeping every time we go places). So 3 proms, two high School and two college graduations, countless dates, almost 5 years together, and one until the wedding (March 23, 2019, our 6 year anniversary) here we are! 💜

Its a bit of an odd one but i love it. 3 yrs ago while i was struggling with things so was fh. Fh had just lost father and his mom 4 months before. My sister saw fh posts and messaged him saying i might be a good person to talk with since i dealt with my brothers death. It took fh a month to contact me. We began talking little bit here and there. That turned into hrs and then till we fell asleep texting. Found out we only lived around corner. So after baking fresh cookies i decided to see if he was home. Went to meet in person. It was a great visit i didnt want to leave but had too. Well we talked went out a few times. . Then i just couldn't get past that flutter feeling and kissed him. Yep i made the first move. We decided to date we have grown really close and been thru alot but hes the best thing in my life and i can't wait to be his wife.

My FH and I were both on eHarmony, but never matched. We ended up meeting through friends. Our first date was a blind date and he melted my heart that very first night. I knew after about two weeks that he was the one. Our friends who played matchmaker are marrying us.

I've definitely realized I've done that to my FH. We are now purposing to take dates where we don't talk wedding at all.

    Our little story:

I've known my FH since I was 5. Our families went to the same church, so we basically grew up together. We didn't really have the same friend group until high school though. Throughout our high school years we were good friends, getting closer each year. My last semester of high school, we were inseparable. We'd talked every day and most nights Skyped until 4am (not the best choice). April 1st 2014 (his birthday actually), he asked me if we were moving to the next level like it seemed we were. I freaked and said I don't know. I was so naive and inexperienced since I had never dated before. Well soon enough, I was ready to except my feelings towards him and we slowly moved to the next level. We had our first kiss December 2014 (my first kiss ever). And we officially starting dating in January of 2015.

Flashed forward to August 6th 2016, my dear friend/photographer asked me to be her model for a photo-shoot. She did my hair, makeup and picked out the perfect garden location for the photo-shoot. What I didn't know what it was all a huge surprise proposal that my FH set up. She positioned me under an arch, was taking my picture when I heard someone walking up behind me. I was mad at first cause someone was in the background of my glamour shot LOL. Well the person was my FH. I was so shocked, then he proposed. Of course I said yes to my best friend. We then proceeded to have our e-photo done. It was the best day EVER!

Now we are only 23 days from the Big day. I cannot believe it is here already. He has been so helpful with the process and it has been pretty smooth. I'm just soooo excited to marry my best friend and then go to MAUI !! He was the first guy to ever notice me and think I was special. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

    Sorry for the long post.

My uncle set me up on online dating when he was renting a room from me and wanted to get me out of the house sometimes lol. Our first date FH took me to two places that had closed permanently before the third place was finally open. He thought I would leave and he would never see me again. I was late picking my son up from my mom that night because we talked about everything that night. It was the least awkward first date I've ever been on. He quickly became my best friend, and my mom asked one day why we weren't boyfriend/girlfriend yet and we had no good answer so we started officially dating. Now he's adopting my son and we're getting married.

We met in college. It was actually funny how he ended up transferring to my school. His first year was a technical school, and he decided to change his major. His second year was at a two-year school and their theatre was under renovation so they were encouraged to audition at the local theatre. He met his next girlfriend there (I think they only lasted a month) and she had been going to my college. He liked what he heard so much, he ended up going there for his third year on (but he didn't go for her). She, in fact, introduced us. We were best friends for over a year before we finally started dating, and we were engaged on our 3 year anniversary. I always think it was kind of funny how we ended up meeting.
