FH took me to a local restaurant (that may be our caterer now) and we had amazing pasta; mine was lobster mac and cheese with melted smoked gouda (total yum!) and his a grilled chicken fetuccini alfredo. When we finished, he brought out from this box a GIANT chocolate covered fortune cookie. I cracked it open and pulled out the slip... "One day someone will hug you so tight, all the broken pieces will fit back together.... I want that someone to be me." I grinned and "awwwwwed", and he looked at me expectantly, then asked, "Well...???" "Well what?" He grabbed the fortune, and slumped. "They forgot the last line!" I didn't understand. "The last line?" "Yes! The 'Will you marry me' part!" We laughed so hard, and then I said yes. Poor guy thought I was reconsidering!! Smiley tongue (Someone is getting a very wordy complaint letter, btw....lol!)

FH took me to the cider mill (favorite place to go in the fall). Bought me some yummy goodies, then took me to this little downtown historic village to walk around. I had never been before so he was showing me around. He took me up to the gazebo that overlooked the river. He told me he wrote a poem for me and asked me not to laugh. Of course I laughed, knowing FH he is the manliest of men, he doesn't write poetry… So he took this crumpled torn piece of paper out of his pocket and began to read it. Of course as soon as he started to read it I began to cry, a lot… Smiley smile At the very end of the poem he asked will you marry me? Got down on one knee and showed me the ring. Of course I said yes and the rest is history. Smiley smile I now have the original poem framed and hanging in our house. Smiley smile

We went out to dinner one night at Olive Garden. It's our favorite restaurant to eat at but it's out of town so we don't go there very often. He decided we should go eat there and I didn't suspect anything was going on. After we ate, we were walking back out to the car. I was getting ready to get in and noticed he was getting something out of the trunk. He said, "Wait, come here." I walked over to him and he handed me a rose and then opened a box with a ring inside and asked me to marry him. The following week we were telling my pastor's wife how he proposed and it turns out she was proposed to the same way at Olive Garden as well.

We had gone away for the weekend to a little country hotel. We were in a pub having a drink after having gone out for tea.

We were just sat in the corner and he gives me a little wrapped box.

    Nice and Simple

We were on our way to Branson, MO with his parents and cousin for a mini Thanksgiving vacation... We stopped in Springfield to do some shopping at the mall. After a while, Mr. B said, "Let's go look at rings..." So we went to one jewelry store and the sales lady went nuts! We were in there probably 3 hours, when Mr. B and his dad went to go put stuff in the car (or so they said). The lady continued to make a list of my likes and dislikes while his mom and I looked around... At about hour 4, I was done. I had text Mr. B and he said they would meet us in the food court.

We sat there for what felt like forever, when his mom said, "Let's go look at Kay's!" So I called and got no answer... We walked into Kay's and there they were... Trying to find me the perfect ring so he could surprise me (in Branson, at Christmas, or whatever it was he was planning.). We blew it... Ruined the surprise... I felt terrible... So we looked at a couple rings, he let me pick my favorite. I took Mr. B's cousin to a store she wanted to go to while they worked on paperwork, credit line, or whatever... Just as we got to the door of the store (at the other end of the mall), he called and said I needed to come back.... So as I walked in, he pulled out a chair and told me to sit.... Then he dropped down on one knee and said, "Will you marry me? .... Please say yes... It's non-refundable!" And obviously I said YES!

We totally made the sales lady at Kay's day because in the 10+ years that she had been there NO ONE had proposed in the store.... I guess they're right... Every kiss begins with Kay! Hahaha! .... I still wonder what he would have done if we hadn't walked in there... OR if he had told me he didn't get approved for the credit (his other plan! lol!)

My fiancé had been given his grandmother’s wedding ring right before she passed away. Last July we moved and somehow in the move the ring was misplaced. I just so happened to find it in a bag of mail that I was going through and throwing in the fireplace to be burned (oops!). We have no idea how it got there but were very thankful it didn’t get tossed. Once the ring was found he informed me that he was planning to have it cleaned and give it to his sister when we were at her house for dinner a couple of weeks later. Even though he was really close to his grandmother he had always thought that his sister should have it. Agreeing that this was a really sweet plan I went along with it and even offered to take it down to be cleaned but he insisted that he do it.

Unbeknownst to me he was actually having the diamonds reset into a more modern setting and planned to propose to me at his sister’s house when we were there for dinner. He had talked to his sister and she was totally supportive of the plan and her and her family planned a special dinner for the big night. When we got to her house I was actually carrying the ring inside a little velvet bag to give to her (I never even looked at it to notice it was completely different looking). At dinner my fiancé asked her to grab the bag and see how nicely it looked after it was cleaned. When she looked in the bag she made a weird face and said “that doesn’t look anything like grandma’s ring.” I immediately thought- omg, did he get the wrong ring back from the jeweler and not even notice?! Lol. So she passes it over to me (still in the bag) and I pull it out. Now it’s my turn to exclaim that “yep, this is definitely the wrong ring.” That’s when he got down on one knee and said “actually, that IS my grandma’s ring but if you’ll have me, I’d like it to be your ring now; will you marry me?” I was shocked and of course burst into tears. It took me longer than it should have to form the words “yes, of course” but I couldn’t have been happier or more surprised.

For fun I attached photos of the two rings side by side (mine is on the right).

We had had the "marriage" talk a few times and I had a feeling he was planning on proposing soon. One day I asked him jokingly about it and started guessing the day and month he was going to do it. I just knew he was going to do it on Christmas Day (it was like a few months away at that time) But, the more I talked about it, the more annoyed he got and he told me he truly wanted to surprise me and he would like it if I didn't bring it up so often. SO I just dropped it. I wanted it to be the right time for both of us. So a few months passed and one day at work I looked at my schedule and noticed I had a four day weekend (which never happened!) I asked my boss why and she just explained that she was giving me a little break since the holiday season had been so crazy for us. I just went along with it. The last night before my 4 day weekend I ended up working until 10 pm. My (then) boyfriend came to see me earlier in the day and was acting really weird, but I didn't think anything of it. He said he wanted me to come straight home because he was cooking dinner. Well, after work I went straight home to find that our bags were packed and he was taking me somewhere! I had no idea! It was 11 pm at night and he drove me all the way up to the top of a mountain to a small little romantic cabin and told me he thought I deserved a little mini-vacation. Well I was so excited just about the cabin that I jumped out and grabbed our bags and ran inside. Right when I closed the door, he knelt down on one knee and gave the sweetest speech ever and pulled out a ring asking me to marry him. It was AMAZING. I never once thought he was going to propose because he did it 3 days before Christmas! I found out that he had went to my parents & grandparents for permission, AND he was the one who contacted my boss and got me those days off! Everyone knew but me! We spend the next day together and didn't tell anyone but family. The day after we had an engagement party at our cabin. It was perfect and I will always remember it.

Christmas Eve 2013 and opening gifts with family (my sons, dil, grandson, mom and her "friend") My FH kept putting off one of my gifts until the end. When I finally got to open I,t it was a book he had made for me at Shutterfly. It depicted our life thus far with pictures and sayings - it was awesome and the best part is he did it all by himself...anyway...I had to sit in front of everyone and read it and show pictures like I was a kindergarten teacher Smiley smile and when I got to the last page all I saw was at the bottom "Fall In Love" and above it a pic of him holding a post-it-note that said Me? Then I looked to the side of the page and there were 3 other pics of him holding post-it-notes that said Will You Marry...I immediately put the book up to my face and cried, then laughed, then cried some more all the while my kids were saying "look at Mack mom"! When I finally got my composure, I brought the book down and looked at him - he was on his knee with the most beautiful black diamond ring! After staring at him for a few seconds...I said YES!!!!!

After 9 years with my best friend and the love of my life he finally asked me to marry him. Our 9th anniversary he took me out to eat at one of our favorite places and it was right on the water front. Once our meal was over he asked me to go and walk by the water and of course I wanted too. There was a cross wrapped in lights and a paddle resting on the cross. He asked me to pick it up and take a picture with it. He finally said there is something written on it. He had carved will you marry me in it!! I was completely shocked when he got down on one knee and asked me. The best thing to he got someone to get it all in pictures which I didn't even know about. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
