For our 5 year anniversary we took a road trip down towards the mountains where we got a hotel (couldn't find a better hotel emoji). The next morning we both felt sick with cold symptoms but still went ahead hiking as planned. FH took me to the great sand dunes national park (again, no good emoji lol) where we ended up hiking to the top of the dunes. And then he proposed! So we can now say that we got engaged at the top of the tallest sand dune in the US

View Quoted Comment I know lol. He came home from a work trip with a cold and then passed it on to me. I know - It was a lot of work to get to the top but I love being able to tell people that! I helped design the ring so I knew he had it and knew it was coming at some point, just not exactly when.

I didn't get to see the finished ring until he proposed, so the ring was sort of a surprise yet. I really do love that he still wanted to do an official proposal though. It still felt special even though I knew it was coming!

I wanted an antique stone with a classic, timeless look from the top but something fun/interesting on the side - ended up doing a blue sapphire hidden halo (because blue is FH's favorite color 🥰). I love it, but not something you can just pop into a store and buy so I'm glad he got me involved!
