They were there! He proposed with both sides of our family and our closet friends there. It was very emotional.

All parents and close family/friends knew before I did. We had dinner with parents right after and a party with our friends that night

We texted them essentially as soon as I said yes lol. They all knew it was coming, and we were out of town, so it was mostly a confirmation.

I'm confused about it "getting close to time to tell them" though. Are you already engaged and haven't mentioned it or are you getting ready to get engaged.

I FaceTimed my mom, and then we sent everyone the attached photo! It was late, so we made the rounds of phone calls the morning after. Seriously one of the HAPPIEST days!

Definitely tell your daughter first - she'll be so excited! Have you thought about including her at all in the process? (Not that I would have the foggiest as to how to, but the memories would be sweet, I'm sure)

If you're close by, I would have them to dinner or something, but if not, call or text (we probably would have called versus texting, but we got engaged in Jackson Square, so phone calls would have been awkward).

We contacted everyone a couple of hours after.

I honestly cannot remember how we told either of them. I think we just said that he proposed.

My fiance rang them that morning to tell them he planned to do it at some point over the weekend. It actually ended up being quite funny, as my mum missed his call, thought it was me calling from his phone, and rang me back. Thankfully I was doing a pilates class and told her I'd call her back, and he got a hold of her in the meantime, and so when I called her she knew what he'd been calling about and said it must have been a mistake.

After he asked, we spent a bit of time just us, basking in the moment knowing we were the only two who knew it had happened, and then gave the parents, grandparents, siblings etc a call!

Everyone was there...he planned the whole thing out without me knowing. He also went super traditional and asked my Step-dad for my hand the week before. To my Step-Dad's credit, he told my FH to ask my Biological Dad (my step-dad is really the one who raised me) which he then did and my biological dad told him to make sure to ask my step dad

We told my dad first since he was available and i pretty much just stuck the ring in his face haha
