Tennis Court Reception

Laura, on November 28, 2017 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Has anyone converted a tennis court for a reception space?? It seems easy to floor and tent, but wanted to see if anyone had experience doing it. Also, what the average costs might be.

TIA!

Have you already talked to a venue about this? I would be surprised if tennis courts allowed this, as I could see dress shoes and heels, tables, etc on the court would scuff it and scratch it and most tennis clubs and country clubs would not like that.

It also depends on he surface of the court and the area immediately surrounding it. There is no way our strata would allow anyone to drive stakes for the tent into the surfaces.

When I was in college I worked for a rec facility doing reservations - we absolutely did not allow any activities on our tennis courts other than tennis, due to the sensitive nature of its surface. I would be surprised if any managed tennis court allowed this.

Depending on the time of year, tennis courts can get really hot too, during the day. And It's hard for me to imagine a tennis court large enough for a reception and tent. The ones that are large enough are usually multiple courts, with fences between them

For all of the reasons mentioned, I don't see this working. Does this place have some special meaning to you? Just curious...

Thank you all for your thoughts. The venue would be an estate owned by a friend. I have seen other weddings where the court floor was covered and flooring placed over it and the it was tented. Just was unsure of all steps that would need to be taken to protect the court.

    Here is a photo.

Hi Laura, I know this is a pretty old thread, but just wanted to see if you ended up decorating the court and if you have any tips/recommendations! I am thinking of doing the same (my relative has a yard with a tennis court) and we may use the surrounding grass for the ceremony and the court for the reception.

I know this thread is old as well, but I'm totally thinking about doing this October 2022! We have a tennis court in our town home community and I don't think it would cost a penny for us to get married on the tennis court. And we'll just spend $100 renting out the clubhouse for the reception. I think this is a great idea to save money and it's a beautiful venue because it's a nice tennis court. I'm all for it

Hi there! I know this is an old post, but I am currently planning my cousins wedding reception on a family members tennis court. What type of flooring did you use to cover the court, and what vendors did you use to help decorate it if you don’t mind me asking?
