tennis shoes under the wedding dress??

Shell, on May 20, 2009 at 12:43 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 18

So my girls are wearing olive green with ivory shoes, im thinking i want to wear olive green shoes with my ivory dress... i dont want to wear traditional shoes. altho i found some cute traditional styled shoes that come in my color, but im thinking i want to go alittle more unique in the shoe area anyways... no one will see the shoes unless i show them or during the garter toss.

i had a friend were lime green converse high tops at her wedding, she was very comfortable and seeing that lime green was her favorite color it was perfect...should i wear the traditional shoes for the ceremony and trade them in for something more fun after?? and what would be the more fun shoe??

the ceremony shoe:

and the reception shoe??

I love the idea of wearing a fun shoe under my dress. I've been thinking about rubber boots (really fun ones with polka dots or some other cool design), but they probably won't be great for dancing.

I am a strong advocate of shoes you can wear again! If I don't find boots, I'll be looking for a fun coloured shoe.

(I'm 6'3" and have big feet, meaning my selection is slightly limited, lol)

anyway, go for the green shoes!

Ive got the opposite problem, im 5'6 and wear a size 5.5 i can often shop in the kids sizes...

i want to be comfortable but have cute shoes. i saw once where a groom and bride busted out in the middle of their lovely first dance to a routine to the greece song "your the one that i want" she pulled up her dress to show red high tops and soft ball socks and he pulled up his pants to show the same red striped socks... the bridal party joined them at this time it was very cute

In my first wedding I bought a pair of nice heels for the wedding and then for the reception, where I knew I would be dancing- I "prettied" up a pair of Keds. I sewed white and red beads on them in pretty designs...and put a lacy ribbon in them instead of shoe strings.. they looked pretty nice and people thought they were hilarious when I was out dancing-- I had a blast and was comfie too!

Ive decided that im going to wear flats under my dress.. i love tradition high heels and all but my feet cant take an entire day in them. one of my friends wore flip flops but very bright pink ones. they matched her bridesmaids dresses. so anything bright is fun but i like the converse idea.

I am planning on wearing converses the entire time (can't decide on white or wedding colors). I'm 5'7" and FH is 6'5" so even if I wear heels I still won't be anywhere near his height lol.

    I love shoes! lol

So I think it's a great idea! Changing shoes for the ceremony and reception would be good that way you get the best of both worlds... formal shoes and fun shoes!

I love the idea of wearing different color shoes! I'm actually wearing hot pink shoes!

I'm wearing white flip flops, my mom spruced them up by adding ribbon and gems, they tie up my legs so they are somewhat formal with a little flair. Although I don't think anyone will actually see them because my dress is literally ten pounds of tulle (it stands up by itself) but my feet won't hurt and I'll know what I'm wearing. Plus cost wise it was really good we got the flip flops at old navy they were 2/5 then just the cost of ribbon and gems.

I love the idea of wearing comfortable shoes. I wore flip flops that i decorated up. But remember that if you switch from heals to flats you are going to have to hold up your dress the whole night or have it altered so that your feet show during the ceremony. I didn't take my shoes off and the bottom of my dress still turned out all black by the end of the night.

A tennis shoes will do.. ! If that's really a choice for you to make your wedding more unique then why not. ! After all, I guess your gown's long enough to cover that. But one thing just wanted to remind you, keep it track at your motif. But try first to ask your groom-to-be's opinion. If he permits you, then dare yourself for that unique idea. And be sure to choose one which you feel comfortable of wearing. Just to avoid a little mess on your wedding date. - advice from hair games fanatic -

Hey I really like the idea of the vans since your FH is going to be wearing vans. IDK I like the idea of husband and wife matching. Oh and breaking in the shoes is a good idea. I wore mine at home for like a month because I always have bad luck with wearing new shoes. I also wore them with socks so I could break them in faster. Good luck and have fun!!

I've been telling my friends for years that I am going to wear white reebok classics under my dress. I have been properly threatened by them so no luck....for the ceremony that is. since I'm 5'2 and he is 6 feet I need some height for the ceremony and first dance but after that its a wrap....ballet slippers, New Balance, whatever the heels are getting kicked off!

My FH and I are going completely off the wall with this but he is a golf nut and I got his cake and the bride is dragging the groom off the golf course, and to make it funny he is wearing his golf shoes with his tux and I'm wearing crocs that my MOH decorated and made them all pretty for me! So be comfortable and have fun it's your day do what you like!

Did you struggle with the rubber part of the show catching on the dress? I feel like the rubber is catching the lace and I do not want to trip over it.
