Tent cost? Am i getting ripped off? 1

How much should a full floor Sperry tent cost for 150-200 guests. I am not doubting the quotes I am getting, but am unread on how much these structures cost and hope to get a better understanding of where each dollar goes?

Sperrys are particularly expensive, as is flooring— full wood flooring is really crazy.
I got a quote from Sperry and even though I love their beautiful sailcloth, I got a knock off version with plastic flooring in the end haha

Dug up my quote. Sperry was $3425 for 46 x 85 tent alone. Then some lighting and a dance floor in my quote, plus all of the state law mandated safety things (fire extinguisher etc) and delivery fee, the pre flooring quote was $6414 (with tax)

I ended up able to use a smaller tent so the numbers won’t be directly comparable , but I was able to use a Tidewater tent instead (same aesthetic, different brand) from another company and for a 44x63 the cost was only 2215. This company broke the quote into tent itself (~1400) and labor (~800), so it’s interesting to see that a lot of the cost is in the labor (no surprise after watching a tent go up— it’s crazy!). Sperry then prides itself on being the higher end version of this because of the guarantees they provide with their sailcloth.
I don’t have my flooring estimate from Sperry for some reason, but I know another company I was talking to offered a plastic (with turf covering) flooring that was about $2/sq foot and said that their wood flooring ran about $4-5/sq foot. Aside from aesthetic , the wood also runs more because they need to build up to make the ground completely level (not required with the plastic alternative).
The company I went through charged only $1.50 per square foot for my plastic+turf (duratrac) flooring! That was the other thing….tent companies were the places that varied the most dramatically with their quotes! But a lot of it is overhead. Storage facilities, trucking, etc. so I found some of the smaller companies to be the most budget friendly

Tents are expensive in general. Some brands more than others. Is it required for your venue? If not, skip it.

Like Michelle said - tents are super expensive!! And Sperry tents are some of the nicest!

Flooring is also an additional cost, and for 100-200 guests this could easily run up to $5,000!

Here's some great background info to read and consider:

I'd also recommend getting a few quotes from different companies so you can compare!

Do you have any suggestions on how to have a tented wedding with a 50k budget and 175 guests? I’m in the ny area open to other states nearby.

Do you mind providing the contact information for this company that quoted you? I'm getting more than double that price from the companies I've spoken to so far!
